This hotel ("Abdijhoeve") is located in a recent building next to a more or less historic farm, hence the name. It's a small hotel with according to the guide. list used 3 or 4 stars.
They are however not earned :
- the parking lot is not paved
- the entrance lacks 'grandeur' and the receptio area is real tiny
- the staff is not present at reception throughout the day. Sometimes you need to go and find them in the restaurant.
- there is a unpleasant smell in the corridors
- the rooms are small. They are clean, but haven't been renovated for years it seems.
- the restaurant looks good, but during several seminars I attended there the food was substandard. The staff doesn't serve correctly, the whole atmosphere is like a 'family tavern', not a restautant with some style.
- the 'thalasso facilities' are small and not of 4 star quality
- the conference rooms are not dark enough to read the screen during projections and some noise enters the room
- the decoration of the conference room is questionnable (I would say 'bad taste')
But apart from these shortcomings it is still a decent and clean hotel, so if you can get a room below 75 € I would take it. Ostend is quite far, so if you want city atmopshere or seaside facilities, go elsewhere.
