Always on a hunt for a bargain break, I was made aware of the hotel Ter Kade from a great website called (--)
The Ter Kade is a seafront hotel opposite the harbour just down from the fountain in the square.
The rooms are basic and have a pink coloured theme with a lift made for 1 person and the majority of rooms with sea front views.
The hotel was amazingly cheap for a break off season averaging just 30 gbp per person per night incl breakfast.
The facilities in the rooms are basically a tv and small en suite, clean and tidy, a little dated and although a real bargain off season, I did see rates for peak being over twice the price I paid.
Car parking is by way of the public underground car park located opposite the hotel and is 14 EUR per day at the time of writing this.
It's debatable whether this is better overall value than a stop and shop offer from the major ferry operators who themselves use Ostend hotels but stick to the major chains.
I would consider this hotel again if I was looking for a quick weekend bargain break off season simply due to it's location and proximity to the amazing cappacino bar and Edgars restaurant (both have to be sampled for their superior welcome and range of delicious food and drink).
