“A complete disaster”

Stayed over Christmas 2008 with coach company. Was very disappointed because under new ownership. The friendlyness of the staff was not there anymore. The breakfast was okay but the evening meals were terrible. The lift broke down three times during our visit. On the morning of departure we had to carry our cases down from the fifth floor. We were mostly elderly people.
The Manager was not helpful at all. We will not be staying there again. North Devon

“what an experiance this was”

Silly me I actually thought that I would get a choice of evening meal, well i was soon put right about that. There was no choice and if you didn't like what you were getting you got an omelette and that was it, there was also no water or juice on offer with any meal and one night they put out coffee but when I went to get a cup I was told "sorry sir that is for desert". If anyone is planning to use this hotel they had better take extra spending money because predict that they will be eating out a lot. That takes care of the food as for the showers they are old style mixer taps and are looking well past their best as are the rooms. I'm happy to tell you that I wouldn't go back near this place if I was getting paid. By the end of the second day the coach party I was with (49 of us) could only talk about getting back onto the ferry so that we could get a decent meal. What a waste of money I would have been better of in a tent.

I'm ver surprised to read a review like the one of 18 July. Please let me feel free to say that this group was very happy with ther stay. A group like that is always staying in Standard Rooms and our contract says that we don't have to serve wine ou water during the meal. They are receiving a menu for the week (with the check in) and there are always 2 alternative choises.
I'm very sorry for this person. We are renovating our rooms and the whole part of the hotel (from Jan till April 2009). At the moment we have 12 new rooms. Maybe I can confince this person that we are still a good hotel.
Our management and the hotel staff will be pleased to welcome every one.
