“Very good atmosphere”

We've been reading a lot of reviews on this hotel before we booked it. Some said very good, others said not good at all. It was located in the center so we said why don't we give it a try? So we did. We booked a cosy room for the kids and a superior with balcony for ourselves. We stayed from Friday till Monday. In our reservation we forgot to mention we wanted the rooms on the same floor so during check-in we asked for the possibility. The hotel was fully booked but still they did the effort to switch rooms! So we had our rooms at the same floor.
The cosy room, it's a small room and is like the name says, cosy :) I would recommend this room for a short stay or when you are not planning to be in the hotel during the day. It is basic but it has all the comfort you can get for that price.
Our room was what a superior room. We were lucky it was one with a balcony so it was really nice because it was very nice weather during our stay. It's a nice room with everything we needed and a beautiful view over the city.
When the kids were to bed we also stayed at the hotel bar one night. How fun was that???? Apparently a lot of airline crews are staying in this hotel, I can tell you, what an atmosphere and stories we heard. Me and my wife had a brilliant time. Even the receptionist was involved in all the stories and it all felt very personal to me. Later that night the manager of that hotel came in and sat down and joined the group. He bought us all a drink and after we had a good talk. Which gave this hotel again an extra point. Very friendly atmosphere!!! One of those nights to remember!
Breakfast was served as a buffet. As I read the reviews about the breakfast I was thinking what is this all about? They serve eggs, you can find different kinds of bread, cornflakes, several juices, bacon, beans, different spreads. I have no idea where these complaints come from that there is not enough variation.

This was my review but in short: A very personal hotel with loads of personality. We will come back for sure

Room Tip: The room with balcony

“A good family environment that catered well for everyone, even the very old.”

I just had to give this Hotel top marks with everything. It was reccommended by Nash Coaches and I was very unsure of it until we arrived. Nothing was too much trouble for these lovely people who offered unique hospitality with the highest quality service. Anyone visiting Belgium should not consider going anywhere except Hotel Ter Streep, I am sure they would have the same pleasurable experience as we did.

Room Tip: We found all the rooms were as good as each others

“Good value and ideal location”

My wife and I stayed for 4 nights in one of the small (cheaper) rooms at the back of the hotel (room 44).

We don't stay in our hotel rooms for any lenght of time, we just sleep and wash (shower) in them, so booking a small room is an obvious saving and sensible.

A large double bed, TV, wardrobe and draws, bedside cabinets, dresser with stool and a case stand filled the room . The view was of back yards and the rear of properties. We didn't pay for a view, so didn't expect one.

The shower, toilet and sink were fine, modern and bright.

So no faults with the room.

The public area was also fine, a free internet computer, or use your own (Wi-Fi). Reception had multi-lingual pleasant staff at all times and everything was neat and tidy. The lift worked and didn't smell, the corridors were short and clean.

Breakfast was good, hot (bacon, sausages, baked beans and eggs) as well as the normal Continental choices of cold meats, cheese and jams etc. Fruit juices, fruit and yogarts, a selection of breads, rolls and cakes. Coffee and loads of different teas. In fact the same breakfast that the guests who paid for large expensive rooms had. Staff helpful and friendly.

Underground car park, about a quarter of a mile away, 10 Euro a day, booked through the hotel.

“Pleasant and afordable”

Hotel Ter Streep, is a small hotel just on the fringe of the center of town. It is 2 blocks from the Casino and within easy walking distance of the Beaches, Town Square, Cathedral St Peter and St. Paul, and the Harbor. Public transportation is just outside the lobby as are many Cafes and several ATM machines. The rooms are small but adequate and they include cable TV with Toilet and a mini shower.(although for a cheaper price the toilet could be a common one). They are neat and clean with various free amenities. The rate includes a very well supplied buffet breakfast which includes both hot and cold entries. Another plus to the hotel is the free access to the Internet in the lobby so you can keep up to date while travelling. The hotel also has a small elevator for those whose room may be on the upper floors. This is appreciated as the size of the stairs and stairwells is one of the detractors of the hotel, since they are very narrow and tight. Parking is also not supplied, so be prepared to pay for your parking, near the hotel on the street or in a public parking lot. The staff are very courteous and helpful and the bar/dining area is very intimate, tasteful and open for long hours. Our group of 4 (2 rooms) had an enjoyable stay while here and would readily recommend the accomodations to anyone passing through. Good value for the money.
