“Bruge for NYE 2011”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

My boyfriend and I had a great stay over New years eve 2011. The BnB was just what we needed..quirky but cosy and near to the main sights including the Bellfry. We couldn't have asked for nicer hosts and were given a warm welcome for our entire stay. Our room was warm with a balcony, ensuite and large wardrobes and we enjoyed a big breakfast every morning! we also used the kitchen upstairs to cook dinner and make lunch before we headed out for the day and it had everything you could need! :)

Room Tip: ensuite room, floor 1 i think was the best as others did not have a toilet but only a shower

“Musterbeispiel von Gastfreundlichkeit”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

Vom praktischen her:

“Great B&B”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 January 2012

Stayed for a night (wished it was more).

A nice modern looking B&B, even with a small elevator, and the room was clean and spacious.
The hosts were nice and friendly and Trees prepared a very nice breakfast.

The building was about 3-4 blocks away from the center, a nice 10-15 minutes walks.

You can take a bus from the train station (about 20 minutes or so) and it's a block away from the closest bus stop. Although, the walk path is made of cobble stone and a little bit narrow, so might be a bit hard to pull your heavy luggage.

“What more can I add?”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 November 2011

Everthing you have read in the other reviews of 't Walleke is true - the gracious hosts Trees and Emiel, the wonderful breakfasts, the beautiful and well-appointed rooms, the reasonable prices, the privacy and convenience afforded by the elevator and private entrance - so I add only what we discovered.
Transportation: An earlier review mentioned that the hosts would provide transportation to/from the train station for 5 euro each way. We made an email arrangement with Emiel to pick us up when we arrived, but unfortunately our cell phone didn't work, so we could not let him know when we would arrive. A taxi took us to the front door for 10 euro where we found out Trees had prepared a sign to welcome us on arrival at the station. She drove us to the station when we left, but we regretted missing their friendly welcome.
Food: We are budget travelers - more savings equal more travel - so we look for inexpensive places for the local cuisine. Trees recommended Pas Partout, just 2 blocks down the street. This is a not-for-profit "sociaal restaurant" which serves subsidized meals to elderly and poor residents, but also meals at reasonable prices to others. The restaurant is immaculate and attractive, the service is efficient and friendly and the food is plentiful, delicious and, most important, Belgium. Another find was the cafeteria on the second floor of the HEMA department store, just off the Great Market on Steenstraat, across from H&M. Grab a table at the window and watch the activity on the street below while enjoying tasty Belgium food at reasonable prices in the company of local residents.
Sights: The old city is easy walking distance from 't Walleke. Walk these safe streets after dark and enjoy the lights reflecting on the canals. Get a Belgium waffle or frites from a walk-up stand. Don't miss the row of windmills along the canal just down the street from t'Walleke.
In summary, visit to beautiful Brugge and enjoy the hospitality and comfort you will find at 't Walleke.

If you would like "Grand designs" architecture experience, book yourself into this B&B. Cleverly designed modern building in the heart of old quarters. Can't compliment the owners enough on their hospitality. Breakfast was wonderful. Definitely coming back!!!!
