“Unique hotel; wonderful design and great location with real character”

My girlfriend and I stayed here for two nights in February 2012, based on the reviews on this site and the recommendation of a friend. Despite our high expectations, we were not disappointed. The hotel is wonderfully designed, full of character and in a great location. Our room (the one with the bath) was better than it had appeared on the website and was very clean and tidy. Caroline, the owner, was very helpful with local recommendations and prepared a very nice breakfast both mornings. She is quite the character! We would definitely go back.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Clin d’Oleil suite, which was fantastic; larger than it appeared on the website, wi...

My wife and I have just returned from a fantastic weekend in Bruges. The centre piece was our B&B Cote Canal. If like me you are tired of business hotels the same old thing each time....treat yourself and stay here. The owner Caroline is an object lesson in hospitality and warmth. My wife and I were taken with just how warm and sincere her welcome was. She patiently sat with us and gave us a great steer on this wonderful city. We stayed in the La Charpente suite, just perfect! The bed was so comfortable and the bathroom was so clean. There were robes and slippers provided. The room had a lovely cosy feel with plenty of space and a mezzanine floor with two other single beds.
The rest of the B&B was breathtaking in its presentation. The lounge was the perfect place to unwind with a glass of wine in hand after a days sightseeing and shopping. The location could not better less than a 5 minute walk from the Burg and not much more than another 2 mins to the Market. Ask Caroline for recommendations for places to eat and visit. I would visit Bruges again in a heartbeat.....as long as I could get to stay in Cote Canal again. I would recommend this B&B to family and friends without a doubt. I cant wait to go back.

“Perfect!”

We really wanted to stay at Cote Canal & Huyze Hertsberge after seeing all the gorgeous pictures on their website, but unfortunately none of the rooms were available on back-to-back nights. Luckily, Caroline went out of her way to accommodate us and we ended up staying in two very different rooms, which did not disappoint. They were both spectacular, large, and nicely decorated rooms that were extremely clean. She also helped us make reservations prior to our arrival since everything gets booked during Christmas and New Year’s. The hotel is walking distance from the town center, the Christmas markets, and many different restaurants and shops.

Carolina really pays attention to detail. She noticed we were from a tropical climate, so she made sure our heaters were at the perfect temperature. Also, during breakfast, which was fantastic, she would go out of her way to make sure we were happy. Caroline sent us to the most amazing chocolate shops and recommended an off-the-beaten path “ past the green door” walk. Ask her about it if you go, because it was one of the loveliest surprises.

This is a great place for families, since the rooms are so large, and it’s also a very romantic, quite place with charming and cozy shared areas. We had a wonderful time relaxing and very much enjoyed a Christmassy atmosphere.

Staying in this B&B really made the Bruges experience magical. I highly recommend Cote Canal & Huyze Hertsberge and hope to return some day soon.

“Wonderful, tranquil place....Can't recommend enough!”

My husband and I have just returned from a fantastic "mini-break" in Bruges and staying at The Cote Canal made it just about perfect. It is a beautiful B and B in an ideal central (and very romantic ) location. It overlooks the water and is a mere few minutes stroll to all the attractions you may want to visit. Caroline, the owner, made us extremely welcome and was incredibly helpful with advice and recommendations for trips, restaurants etc. All four suites are attractive and individual, with wonderful period features blended with modern facilities, in a seamless and tranquil fashion. Excellent breakfast, tea/coffee available in your room or the comfortable lounge at any time......really have no negative comments....STAY THERE!!!

Room Tip: Clin d'Oeil and Clair de Lune are great for couples, Suite Empire has a connecting room/bed, goo...

“What a great place!”

We went to Bruges over Christmas – 23rd to 26th December – and stayed at this great, cosy B&B. Our room was large and comfortable with a good size bathroom (with robes!) and a nice view of the canal and the garden. Caroline, the owner, was fantastic – we got in touch before our arrival and asked whether she could help us book some restaurants for Christmas Eve dinner and Christmas Day lunch and not did she just come up with a list of palaces we could go to on these days but in the end booked two great restaurants for us, where we had a great time. Caroline was so nice that she even gave a small present to everyone who was down at breakfast on Christmas morning!

The breakfast was great – cereals, croissants, pastries, cheese, cold meats and even scrambled eggs to go with your OJ and strong coffee. There is a very cosy lounge with a nice old glass-fronted cupboard containing the mini bar to help you get through your book in the afternoon. As the weather was a little cold we did not spend time in the garden but could see it out of our window and it looks like a place you would definitely camp in for a while on a summers’ eve.

The location of the B&B itself is great, walking distance to the main square and lots of great little cafes and bars – the only cabs we took were from the train station to the B&B and back.

Overall, we had a great stay ad would definitely recommend it. Hoping we can come back in the warmer months!
