“Great hotel, Great location 2 very minor niggles”

This hotel is perfectly located for walking around Bruges. The staff and service very friendly and the quality of the rooms are not in question. We had one technical hitch in as much as the air conditioning was not working, for a long weekend in November I didn't think this would be a problem. it was unseasonly warm and the room warmer still so bit uncomfortable and struggled sleeping. We only had breakfast which was great (albeit not cheap at 21 euros) but the restaurant looked fantastic and was very busy while we where there. The bar early on was lovely and I suspect the terrace better still by the canal (it was raining so we didn't). We did return from a restaurant and thought about having a quick night cap in the bar, the law in Bruge (Belgium) still permits smoking in public bars. the smoke was quite bad so we skipped it.

That said an amazing hotel and a fantastic location I would strongly recommend this hotel.

“Hotel without character”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2010

Although our stay was great, the staff was very friendly and the rooms where great, the hotel misses character in our opinion. It not a bad hotel neither the service was lousy but we discovered some things that we didn't expect for that price.
Brugge is such a great city and we though this hotel would extend that but it didn't.
The design of the hotel is modern you can park your car at the back of the hotel for 16 euros a day, when you park your car behind others you need to leave your car keys at the reception.
We stayed in room 10 (Beatrys van Portugal) with excellent beds and a very quite room at the end of corridor, the jacuzzi was very nice (although it was made for one person) the shower was great. The details that we didn't expect where some light bulbs that were broken. Then again free Wifi in the room is nice.

We would recommend to have a breakfast outside the hotel, specially because it's cheaper and there are so many nice places to pick from.

So again, not a bad hotel but if we visit the great city again we're going for something different.

“Hard to fault”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 October 2010

This hotel is excellent in all ways. We had a duplex suite, which had two levels to it, which gave our children a nice place to go that felt like their own. The bathroom was large and had a jacuzzi and very luxurious shower. The decor was modern, which was quite unusual considering the hotel is very old.

The check-in staff was wonderful and the bar staff was attentive, although the bartender didn't particularly like serving me at the bar whenever I met a friend there who happened to be in town, however once we moved to a table everything was fine. The hotel is within 5 minutes of everything and had free parking on a first come, first served basis. You just had to leave the keys with reception so they could sort out moving the cars.

“great hotel in a great city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2010

We were pleasantly surprised at the adorable Relais Ravenstein. The rooms were comfortable and the bathroom had a great shower and jacuzzi tub. The staff was extremely helpful, taking us to our room and helping us with dinner reservations. (the restaurant was a great choice) Parking was in the rear of the hotel. The whole experience was a great one. Thanks trip advisor.

“Nothing special”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2010

This hotel is trendy but we were disappointed by the room quality (room number 7): noisy jacuzzi, broken bulb and no soap container in the bathroom ... torn sheet. We expected to get more quality for a 4-star hotel. The location is good and staff is helpful.
