“Relaxed and Superb Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

The Walburg is a 4 star Hotel situated about a 2 minute walk from the famous Makt in the center of Bruges. The location is perfect for those wishing to explore the delights of Bruges. The rooms (we stayed in room 32) are spacious and have everything you need including free Wi-Fi. The public areas of the hotel are very elegant with lots of marble and even a silver bowl for you breakfast fesh fruit salad. The staff were all very help and welcoming. We will definately be going back for more!

“Good Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 March 2010

This hotel is very well located, within walking distance to the historic center of Brugge.
The rooms are confortable, big, the decoration is minimalist.
Breakfast is in very scenic room, and I liked the food. The building is like an old mansion. Very nice.
The staff is polite and efficient.

I really enjoyed my stay.

“Charming Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2009

The entry is impressive - an elegant white foyer and sitting area, marble staircase and chandeliers. Our Room was very large with a marble bathroom with shower and bath, very clean and airy. The beds were very comfortable. The room where breakfast is served is full of charm and the food and service good. This hotel is ideal if you want a quiet location just a few minutes walk to the main square, where there are many restaurants to choose from (all very good quality, but not cheap). All the main sights are within walking distance. Although overall we had a lovely stay, I have stayed in other hotels in Bruge which were a lot more cosy. Just for Info, there is not parking on site, but there is a secured Car Park around the corner for 10 Euro's a night. All in All we had a lovely time.

“A Wonderful Stay”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 July 2009

We returned to the Walburg after a memorable stay 6 years ago. The entry is impressive - an elegant white foyer and sitting area, marble staircase and chandeliers.

Our room (32) was very spacious with beams, 2 dormer windows and a marble bathroom with shower and bath. The wireless internet in the room was complimentary. It was quiet at night except for a few children’s footsteps which could be heard as they passed by in the hall early in the evening. The beds were comfortable and the windows looked out onto city rooftops. Church bells chimed on Sunday morning.

The staff were helpful and booked taxis and restaurants for us. The room where breakfast is served is full of charm and the food and service good. This room was also the restaurant but was not operating when we were there.

This hotel is ideal if you want a quiet location 5 minutes walk to the historical centre. There were many restaurants close by and all the main sights are within walking distance. It’s a ten euro taxi fare from the station and best for those without a car because no parking is provided. (Although I believe there is a carpark close by.) I booked through the owner who offered very reasonable rates and I would definitely recommend this hotel to those who appreciate charm and beautiful decor.

“Pleasant stay, but strangely lacking in atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 July 2009

We stayed at the Hotel Walburg over the Easter break. Bruges can be expensive for accommodation, especially if you want somewhere near the centre that is unique and not a chain hotel, and the Walburg wasn’t overly expensive and in a good location about 5min walk from the main square.

The hotel is in an imposing building, a former grand residence – all high ceilings, marble columns, elegant period décor in the communal areas – but it strangely lacks any warmth or atmosphere. The bedroom and bathroom were large. Some pictures on the wall, a few more furnishings or anything that would add some character wouldn't go amiss as it did feel like one big empty space that they didn’t know what to do with. Still, you’re not in Bruges to stay in your room! Walls were thin though – we could hear the ‘nocturnal activities’ of the couple next door.

There was a good choice of food at breakfast and service was fine. Not a bad choice if all the popular hotels are booked up, but I’d probably try and stay somewhere a bit more boutique-style next time.
