upon our last ( and first ) trip to belgium we spent a couple of days in wonderful Bruges. A medieval city that has kept all its charm for over centuries. Unfortunately we came from Brussels to Bruges without a hotel reservation and had a difficult time finding a place to sleep; it was only after talking to some locals that we found the Home Fleuri, a guesthouse and restaurant in a beautiful 18th century renovated mansion, facing the beautiful citypark. From the outside it looked way to expensive but we soon found out that for a mere 100 dollars a night, we had great value for money. Huge, nicely redecorated bedrooms, private bathroom, tv, roomservice, you name it. The breakfast was also plenty and served in the beautiful garden. On our second night, we gave the restaurant downstairs a try ( parkrestaurant) Once again, we were delighted by the friendly service and excellent local and french cuisine, with menus stretching from 25 to 50 euro ( approx. 30 to 60 dollars at that time ) including drinks ! For beers I recommend " brugs beertje" ,a small "café" off the market square, serving over 300 local beers. On a final note, locals advised us not to eat on the marketsquare, unless we wanted to be ripped off.
