I have stayed at the Lybeers for one night in October 2011. I just needed a place to sleep and didn't want to spent a lot of money. So I booked a single room with shared facilities at the Lybeers. It was a tiny room on the top floor and I was surprised, that it had its own wash basin (which was nice). During the day, I visited Bruges and on the next day I left in the early morning (at about 6:00 a.m.) for the next destination Ghent. So I was absolutely satisfied with the Lybeers, as I just needed a place to sleep. Location is good - in walking distance to the train station and to the city center. Free internet is another plus.

Had 1 night in the Lybeer, well when i say 1 night it was literally 7 hours of which 6 and a half were spent sleeping in a very cold damp room on the top floor, that said it served a purpose as a cheap option to get my head down after a very heavy day downing the lovely belgian beer. Fantastic location about 5 mins from the main square.

The single room was like a prison cell, the heating in the room did not work so it was around 10 degrees celsius inside, there was a renovation going on.. Needless to say, it was awful, even for the money( it was cheap). Given that the staff was nice and helpful, it is a real shame.

Really quirky hostel - myself and my friend arrived late from Paris and the owner kept the hostel open late and let us pay the next day as we seemed exhausted. The internet was free and there is a kitchen, chill out area and bar. We were also allowed to take in our own alcohol which was really great.

There were also plug sockets in the shower rooms/toilets with mirrors which many hostels don't have which was a nice bonus as I could dry my hair with a hairdryer!

The room was tiny and basic, but to be honest in a place like Bruges you won't be spending any time sat in your bedroom!

Only negative is that there were bedbugs and this ruined the rest of my stay but if they sort this issue then it is a fantastic budget hostel!
