“Quiet & comfortable motel style accommodation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 February 2011

Used the hotel for two nights as a base to travel into Bruges. The no. 27 bus stops within 100m of the hotel entrance and travels to/from the main station with the last bus at 22:00. Although very close to one of the main roads, there was no noticeable noise as the rooms face away from the traffic.

The bed was firm but comfortable and the room was relatively small but clean. Food in the restaurant was good and priced reasonably (compared with other hotels in Bruges). The tea/coffee facilities in the room are a nice bonus (which many European hotels lack), but serious travellers would be advised to take along their own cups and spoons as the plastic/paper cups get a bit soggy when they are hot and the plastic spoons curl up when fishing out the tea bags or stirring the coffee.

There are small supermarkets within a short walk of the hotel and could be used to buy provisions for a DIY breakfast if the €10.95 per person breakfast buffet seems a little expensive.

Staff in the hotel are friendly and helpful and in contrast with many hotels the WiFi access is free (I didn't use it so cannot comment on the speed).

If you are using a Sat Nav to help get you to the hotel, enter the Latitude/Longitude figures of: N 51deg 10min 53.71sec, E 3deg 12min 21.26sec as Sat Navs tend to direct you to the wrong place.

“you can do better than this hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2010

My husband and I stayed at this Campanile to visit Bruges. I thought it would be good value for money, as it was on past visits. We found it a very long walk into Bruges, and needed to take the car. Excellent parking behind the station at 2 euros per day. The hotel was very tired looking, the bathroom had black mould around the bath, and had one small wall heater which stayed on for a very short time only. There was no heating on whatsoever, the heater in the room not working. We went to bed cold. We did howerver, sleep well, no noise during the night at all.Breakfast was ok, but we left after one night. Not the cheapest stay either!

“motel”

Very simple and basic, far from the center, on the road. Definitely overpriced. The only good thing is free parking, otherwise a very modest motel.

“Not enough milk in my room”

This place made me feel like I was a well connected fugitive, just off the motorway, the gps sent us too a street on the other side of the road, there was parking in a dark corner outside my door, the door had the key in it when I arrived and the whole place was just like an american motel, nice.
Only problem was I love a bit of milk in my tea and to only have a dribble available on arrival and the place all locked down like a bank I was quite disappointed with my pre sleep cup of tea.

“Great stop over hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 August 2010

My wife and I were traveling back to England from Germany and decided we would like to visit Bruges, as it was only an hour away from Calais. The Campanile, or though not easy to find on Sat Nav, has a motel feel to it. The staff, evening and morning, were very friendly and helpful. The room was quite small but clean and comfortable and very quiet at night considering the hotel is only just off one of the main motorways. The Campanile is idealy situated as we were able to walk into the centre of Bruges from the hotel, but opted to get a taxi back which cost just under 15 euros.
