“New Year's in Brugge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 January 2007

This is one of the best B&B's in Brugge... and there are a lot of ordinary places here. I was lucky enough to book all three rooms for myself, my wife and our 4 friends for NYE 2006. The owner, Belle, was an excellent host - always friendly, always helpful and willing to chat about Brugge and recommend the local restaurants (which also were fantastic).
My party of 6 all agreed - the rooms are gorgeous, the breakfast is fresh and plentiful, and the location is unbelievably good.
NYE 2006 also came with a surprise - Isabelle has sold the B&B, and we were lucky to meet the new owners on New Year's Day. Christine and her husband (didn't get introduced to him), have been learning from Belle and seem confident and able to take over the B&B. And it's a hard act to follow after Belle's reign. Good luck to them, but I feel that they'll do very very well. Christine is also a very friendly helpful and polite hostess, and I have no doubt she will be still there when we visit Brugge next.
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

“Bell's B&B is Charming and Unique”

My husband and I, as well as my sister and her husband, wanted a very local experience for our two nights in Brugge, Belgium. We booked at Bell's B&B on the advice of a friend and couldn't have been happier. The B&B is on a quiet street very close (withing easy walking distance) to the center of Brugge. The property's documented date is 1777, but the owner has evidence of it being even older. The rooms are charming, comfortably decorated, and unpretentious. There is a set of fairly steep stairs to the first floor room, and even steeper stairs to the lovely attic room, well worth the climb.

What made the stay particularly memorable was Belle herself. She was very willing to talk with us about living in Brugge and had many recommendations for places to eat and shop. We all enjoyed learning about the area from someone with such a love for her home. We highly recommend a visit to lovely Brugge and a stay at this B&B in particular. We will never forget our stay.

“Watch out for Bed Bugs!!!”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2006

Given the previous ratings and comments, we found the place do meet our expectations - great locations, services, breakfirst, not to mention the lovely owner Belle. We stayed two nights on room no 1.
However, we did get caught by bed bugs and severely bitten. They were visible on the wall and on the bed. Unfortunately, we only discovered them hrs before we were due to leave the hotel. The bugs have followed us back to London flat and as a result we may have to have a pest controler coming in. We are both severly bitten. The unbearable itchyness has been lasting for days even as we are writing this review 1 week since coming back. The bites and whealers are all over our body with excruciating itchyness. According to our research, it' is caused by the saliva of the bugs that stayed in the blood stream for days. We have used us 2 tubes of unti bites creams but with mimimal effects. It is by far the worst experiences of such kind we have ever had. We just hope this feeling goes away quickly as there is not much you can do abt this.
Having said this, we do remember there was unti bug socket plug in the room but we didn't use it as we have never had such experiences/need before and we have stayed around no less than 30 hotels/B&B in Europe in the last couple of years. I don't know how effective they are.....but if you do happen to stay in this room, it is imperative to have it plugged in. Believe me, no one should experience this again.

“A place with magic”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 September 2006

My wife and me stayed in Bells bed a breakfast for 6 nights. The place looked very nice in the web but it is more pretty in life. It is placed in a quiet street very near of one of the romantic channels of Brugge. It is a place with magic. I think that it is a good option to go with your couple. The house has all the enchantment of the Brugge's houses. I have seen all the rooms and all of them look wonderful. I stayed in the top of them. I think that it is the most romantic room in the house, (you can see the starts while you are fallen down in bed). Everything is very clean in the house.
The breakfast is really nice, (different types of good bread, confiture, coffe/tea/chocolate, omelete, cheese, ham, orange juice, yogourt, fruits). I invite everybody to eat everything that Belle offers to you... I think it is impossible!
The only thing that seems a bit strange for me is that the bed was not made everyday. I really don't know if it is the normal conditions in that sort of lodging. In any case everything was lovely.

“Bell's-fantastic!”

Myself and my wife stayed at Bell's for the weekend just before Christmas. It was superbly located, only 10 minutes walk from the Burg, and despite the cold outside our room was very warm and cosy, and quirkily decorated. Bell's breakfast can keep you going all day, warm breads, croissants, cheese, ham and preserves and she will cook you an egg or two any style if you like. Bell will give you a parking disc so you can park close by on the street which is very convenient in Bruges. We felt completely at home for our weekend and I would thoroughly recommend Bell's, at 50 euros a night for a double it must be the best value in the city and we hope to visit again soon.
