My wife and I stayed here for our 2nd wedding anniversary - we booked a luxury double room which turned out to be much better than we expected.
The room was very modern with real wood flooring, a large flat screen tv, separate bathroom & toilet, mini bar, huge bed and a mini-safe (free of charge). We arrived at the hotel at 11am which we knew would be too early to check-in but thought we may be able to leave our bags at the hotel and return later. To our surprise, our room was ready and we were allowed to check-in! The lady on reception provided us with a map (so no need to buy your own anywhere) and also pointed out some of the places to see around the city. She was very pleasant, welcoming and spoke great English.
The location was also great - we knew it wasn't exactly in the centre, but it was easy to find and was only a 10min stroll to the main square.
The hotel bar was really nice - especially during the 4-6pm happy hour (half price on selected drinks) where you could get a beer for 1.6euro! It was fairly quiet during other times, but was cosy next to the fire. The barmen were friendly and also kept the free peanuts topped up! Even outside the happy hour, the drinks were reasonably priced.
We only stayed one night but would have loved to stay longer. Bruges is a lovely city and we will return. The breakfast in the hotel was plentiful and kept us going way past midday. There were, cereals, fresh fruit, fruit cocktail, scrambled egg, bacon, toast, boiled eggs (which you could cook yourselves in the handy boiler), croissants, pastries, yoghurts, many types of bread, hams, cheeses... the list goes on. Hot drinks were available and there was also a selection of fresh fruit drinks.
Top marks from me!
