“Pleasant surprise in a beautiful city”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

The Flanders hotel is a lovely little hotel very close to the centre of Bruges. We had a family room with a double bed, twin beds and a sled bed that doubled as a couch. The room was fairly large and comfortable. The bathroom functional but a bit tired. The breakfast was great with a lot of choice for adults and kids. Coffee was terrible! The staff all helpful and friendly.
The hotel is about 10 mins walk to the centre of Bruge and definitely suitable for families. Not 5 start but affordable, comfortable and clean.

“Two nights, mid-week in Jan”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

The hotel was short walk from city centre, with a crossing of the canal and walk past the town hall and the church holding the basilica of the holy blood. The hotel was clean, with the Superior + room providing a large double bed as well as extra comforts such as comfy chairs, table, desk, mini-bar etc. The 4pm-6pm 'happy hour' in the bar downstairs was a lovely introduction to our evening, with a great choice of beers and wines.
There was some building work going on, and the staff directed us to some closed sights - for example the halve moon brewery and the Belfry, but we enjoyed our time in Bruges and found the hotel great.

Room Tip: Avoid January when the sights, restaurants and shops are minimal following the Christmas rush.

“Beware the keen builders!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 January 2012

A very pleasant hotel, near to the centre and with friendly and efficient staff. A nice bar, and small, but more than functional, swimming pool.
Good sized rooms, though the Superior was no bigger that your average Travelodge room which was a little disappointing.
However, the big downside for us was, as we were coming across for a well earned break and to generally mooch for four days, you can imagine how annoying (words tempered here from those used at the time!) it was when each morning at 7.30am, major building work started right outside the room on a building opposite, with all the cacophony of drilling, shouting and banging any self respecting English builder would not start until well after 9am, and his bacon buttie.
This meant all hope of a lazy lie-in was thwated, and the day did not start in the best way possible. Good breakfasts though made up a little of ground lost...

“A night in Bruges”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2012

The hotel is not far from the centre. The staff is kind and helpful. The room was nice with a spacious bathroom. We had three small problems though: People smoked in the hotel bar, when, at night, we went to the room to have a shower the water had no pressure at all (in the morning it was ok) and there were some construction works at the back of the hotel that woke us up quite early (bad timing I guess!).
The breakfast was good, but the view to the garden was not so pleasant - the plants and the fountain need to be taken care of.

“Lovely, very comfortable hotel stay in central Bruges.”

Stayed here in January for a weekend break. Lovely hotel with friendly, helpful staff. The 4-6pm happy hour in the hotel bar mentioned by other reviewers was a great bonus with a wide selection of drinks as part of the deal. As per other reviews there is a smartly dressed, older local crowd drinking there too but surely that's a good sign! Other pluses are the central location, great breakfasts and spacious room (we had a superior). Would definitely recommend and stay again.
