My husband and I recently returned from Bruges where we were celebrating his birthday. Our stay at the Albert 1 was made uncomfortable by the construction occuring in the hotel, directly in the rooms below ours. It was a horrible noise and because of the nature of the work being done the heat had to be turned off one of the days - in January. Additionally, one of the workmen entered our room with a key without knocking, and on the third day of works they started to paint. The fumes were unpleasant to say the least. We were disappointed that we would have to put up with such unprofessionalism on the part of the owner/manager booking guests who would have to tolerate this sort of thing. We won't be recommending or returning to this hotel. Luckily, Bruges is lovely and we enjoyed the town, however it was disheartening to have to return to this hotel in the evenings.

I have stayed here 3 times over some years and it's a hotel that is welcoming and in a convenient location. Walking distance from the train station, with good-quality rooms and furnishings, and friendly owners and staff. Breakfast is buffet-style and very enjoyable. Bruges is a lovely city and this is an economical place to stay.

When we arrived we were greeted very well. The room was very nice, quiet and sunny.
The hotel was great for walking into the city and seeing all the lovely sights there.
