The hotel is in a great location, only a ten minute walk from the train station and minutes away from the 't Zand which is the starting point for exploring Bruges. The Markt is only a further 10(ish) minute walk away down the main high street where you can find the mainstream shops. The hotel itself is lovely inside and the room is perfectly acceptable as a base for a trip to Bruges. Our room was clean, the shower was hot, the tele showed three English channels as well as the rest of which some were English, but subtitled in Dutch which was nice to relax to between the activities of the day and going out for dinner. We heard no traffic noise and even though we lay in some mornings we were never bothered by cleaners. The pool is a welcome addition and provided us with additional relaxation after a long day of walking. They provide additional towels in the pool room so you don't have to sacrifice the towels in the room. Whilst the room doesn't have tea making facilities, I have never had this in any hotel I've stayed in in Europe, and the tap water is drinkable so we were not bothered by this at all. The seating areas in the hotel are lovely and had we had more time we would have enjoyed relaxing with a drink in these areas. We didn't sample the breakfast as we purchased our hotel room with a voucher, so I can't comment on this. The reception staff were always very friendly and we had no problems whatsoever.
We ate in two restaurants near the hotel in the 't Zand during our stay. The first was called le Source and provided cheap set menus that were fairly good quality. This was just what we were after as we had heard that eating out was expensive in Bruges and didn't want to splash out every night. The second restaurant we ate in was the Hollywood Bistro, we both had the peppercorn steak and chips which was absolutely delicious, and at 20 euros each was fairly reasonable. The last meal we had in Bruges caused us to walk a bit further to Rib's and Beer. A must in Bruges if you like ribs, they do three different rib sauces and most importantly for 18 euros you can have as many ribs as you can eat. The owner is very friendly and managed to fit us into his packed restaurant and he provided us with great beer recommendations.
For daytime eating we were nearer to the Markt and we discovered a lovely cafe called Caffe-Da-Noi on Katelijnestraat that served cheap set lunches. I had a gorgeous ham sandwich and homemade soup for 7.50 euros. Also on the same street is a lovely tea room called Du Proverie, where you can get proper belgian hot chocolate with whipped cream and a small selection of Belgian chocolates for only 4 euros. We also discovered the Boru Irish Bar that shows most televised football matches and has an events page online so you can see if your match will be on. They also serve food and the portions looked hefty and good quality.
Whilst in Bruges the Belfry was shut for restoration but we managed to do other activities: canal cruise, Half-Moon brewery tour, Choco-story museum and exploring the city in ir's entirety.
I would love to visit Bruges again and I would most definitely come back to this hotel.
