I was surprised how cheap a bed in this place was after travelling down through Holland and other parts of Belgium, but it makes a bit more sense when you realise you're crammed into a room with a lot of other people.

The stairs were a bit of an issue as I have giant feet and kept feeling like I would fall off each step - I was staying on the second floor, but ended up keeping my suitcase down in the lockers on the first floor so I could bring it downstairs in two goes.

I didn't end up showering because it was so cold and you had to walk through the bar and kitchen to use them - a little inconvenient (I ended up prefering to have a 'wet one shower' and using a lot of dry shampoo).

The reception staff were friendly and helpful! The location was amazing also - it seems a little quiet and residential, but it's only a short walk to the centre.

The bar downstairs is awesome also - very cheap beer with a 1 euro happy hour.

I think this is one of the better hostels in Bruges. I met a guy who had checked a few of them out and he said it was by far the best comparitive to the others around.

narrow staircase which would be kinda tough to haul yor luggage up
not so convenient showers because it's in another building
only 2 toilets on a floor with 4 rooms, had to queue or go to the other building where shower & extra washrooms are during "peak hour" (bfast & checkout time)

overall reasonably comfort but the facilities were less convenient

This hostel has oodles of character and a great atmosphere. The downstairs bar has local beer, probably the cheapest in Bruges? There is free wifi in the bar and a lot of tables to chill out. The rooms are good, ours was a 4 bed mixed dorm with a shower, there was lots of space and it was clean. It is only a short walk to the central square and about 15 mins to the train station. You can hire a bike for 6 € for the whole day which is a great way to see Bruges. There are free walking tours at 2 pm which leave from the hostel. Overall, I would definitely stay here again!

Snuffel is a busy hostel about a 5 minute walk from the main square, in an interesting and beautiful neighbrhood near canals and historic buildings. The staff are friendly and helpful, the bar lively and cheap, the rooms clean and charming. A central courtyard, outdoor tables, large lounge, and diverse population makes for a good visit to Bruges. Note that the showers are indeed down a floor from the rooms, but I think it's an ok tradeoff for the price. Can't beat its value. I would stay there again and recommend it to friends.
