“Excellent value for money & very clean”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 February 2012

Looked for a reasonable place to stay with a canalside location and stumbled upon Ter Reien. Stayed for 2 nights and couldn't fault the place.
Friendly staff who spoke English and were happy to provide us with a map showing where we could leave the car.
Room was spacious and very clean - worth paying that little bit extra for a canal view and our request for a double rather than a twin room was met. (we stayed in room 115).
Price included breakfast which was ok (best croissants I've ever tasted tho).
Hotel within walking distance of all the main sights and within stumbling distance to a few late bars.
If you plan on visiting Bruges soon and don't want to spend a fortune on a hotel, then make sure you stay here

Room Tip: Book a canal view room Email the owner once confirmation received and specifically request a double...

“Beautiful in an adorable town”

We stayed for 2 nights. I'd splurge on the canal view as it really makes a difference during your stay. Everyone was friendly and the rooms were extremely clean. Breakfast was more American but still great.

Booked Ter Reien based on decent reviews and a reasonable price. Silly me............
The location is decent, about 300 yds from the Berg and 400 from the main square. Small hotel run by a husband and wife (owners?) but unfortunately, they run it as if it were a chore instead of concentrating on any type of customer service. Husband seemed pretty sullen and didn't like to be bothered. You had to bother him sometimes because the front desk is manned during the day only. The young lady hired to run the desk was friendly and very helpful, but she leaves at 1700.

Paid for an upgraded room with a view of the canal, but the canal is the only thing one might consider a plus. The room was very small. The bed was two singles put together, but were "futon" type with no box springs and an inexpensive mattress on top. The bathroom is the worst part of the whole equation. A modular unit seeming placed in a closet, 8' x 5' at best. if you sit on the toilet, your knees are in the shower. Smallest shower unit I've ever seen, and the slow drain in it ensured the entire bathroom had a inch of standing water on the floor after use. To add further insult to injury, smoking is not permitted in the rooms making the "pod" bathroom with its small exhaust fan the logical place to smoke. Bottom line, the pod reeked from the last two dozen or so smokers.

On the plus side, the breakfast was decent; hot croissants, ham, cheese, Dutch pancakes with coffee and juice. It is included in the room price. Another potential positive was wireless internet for 5 Euros for your entire stay. Unfortunately, it was down the entire first day of my stay and intermittent the second day. Poor internet connections didn't stop them from collecting the 5 Euro at checkout.

There are a couple of decent restaurants close to the hotel, a supermarket about 200 yds down the street, and a laundromat 150 further down the same street.

Not horrible, but close. I wouldn't stay here again.

“clean, friendly, good place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2011

Nothing outstanding, but price to match. Great location. Nice staff. Reasonable breakfast. Exactly what I wanted.
No room to swing a cat in the bathroom, so leave your cat at home. Use this place to sleep and explore Bruges. In that respect it was spot on.

Room Tip: get a canal room, nice to look onto
