“HUGE apartments!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2010

I stayed in the apartment called Carmers and my family stayed in Sint Donaas apartment. Carmers is for 2 people and is absolutely huge! It had everything you needed and it was great to have a choice of DVDs to watch after many tiring hours of walking around Bruge. The apartment had 4 windows and 5 radiators and never felt cold despite being so big. There was plenty of wardrobe space in the bedroom, my only comment is that there is no full length mirror in there. The apartment is very contemporary and even has a lovely roof terrace. The Sint Donaas is a more traditional in style but equally as big and my family loved staying there. Nico was very helpful and although we didn't use the bakery service my aunt did get a bottle of wine from the chiller which was a reasonable price. I can recommend VERY HIGHLY going to the ice/snow show held in front of the railway station - the ice sculptures are incredibly impressive and there's even a 16m ice slide to go down inside (which is part of the Great Wall of China). The theme is heritage from around the world and features 30 different sculptures representing different countries - it's amazing! I don't rate the Xmas markets in Bruge having been to various German and Austrian ones which are a hundred times better than Bruge, however Bruge makes up for it with lots of lovely shops, most of which sell chocolate!! beware - the food is very expensive which is why taking your own to the apartment or buying from the supermarket is the cheaper option. As the kitchens are well equipped it was no problem to do anything! By the way the apartments are SO close to the main squares it's great, and a plus point is that at the end of the road is the entrance to the irish bar which usually has live music on a Saturday night. You can catch up on your emails on the PC in reception and the TV has not only the BBC but also ITV to watch. There was no parking available for us at the apartments but the car park was not even a 10 minute walk away and for 3 nights only came to 25 euros so not bad at all. All good and would DEFINITELY stay there again!

“Fantastic Place”

The accomodation is just devine. We stayed in St. Donaas, and couldn't believe how big it was. It has everything you need and to have the honesty bar and bakery delivery at the reception is a really wonderful touch. The location is fantastic. You are so close to the market square and the burg. Far superior than staying in a hotel.
We didn't meet Nico and Ann as they were on vacation, but we were lucky enough to meet his daughter evie and ben. When we couldn't get to the airport because of the rail strike and not being able to get a taxi to the airport Ben drove us there himself. No hotel would give you such a kind personal service. Can't wait to return to such a great place.

“A wonderful place to stay with a helpful host.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

My brother and my mother stayed with me in the 'Onze-Lieve-Vrouw' apartment. It has three clean and simple bedrooms and the apartment has a good size terrace overlooking the small garden which gets the sun in the evening. All the rooms were very quiet and we all slept soundly on the comfortable beds. The apartment is large and relaxing and even when you are in a room on the street, it’s such a quiet street that the noise is minimal.

The owner Nico was very friendly and he runs a very efficient operation. The ability to order fresh bread (at reasonable prices) to be delivered by the baker in the morning was a great touch, and the bread was superb. There is also an extensive honesty bar in reception which was much cheaper than surrounding beer shops.

Staying here was a great experience and was very relaxing. Highly recommended.

“very pleasant accommodation in good location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2010

I have just returned from a stay in St Donaas. The apartment has 2 bedrooms, living room, kitchen, dining room (living, kitchen, dining is open-plan) and a bathroom with separate WC. The accommodation was clean and comfortable. It was much larger than I had expected as the building is very old and has high ceilings and quite large bedrooms giving a feeling of space. The kitchen was fairly well equipped however the knives could do with being sharpened and there is no electric oven, you are instead provided with a combi microwave. We had a private terrace which is accessed through the double bedroom. It was nice to be able to sit outside and eat/relax. The terrace gives you access to the shared courtyard where there is a small leisure pool, large bbq and more tables & chairs. There is also a 'reception' area (the owners Ann & Nico live on-site; next to St Donaas) where you can take drinks including juice and water from the honesty bar, use the computer and place an order to the bakery for your fresh breads and rolls which are delivered the next morning. This is a lovely touch! It was quiet at night time and we enjoyed shopping for lovely foods & preparing our own meals. It was quite interesting reading through the guest books where previous guests had written about their special finds in Bruges, tips on where to go etc. The property is in a very central location but on a quiet street with little traffic so it is not too busy. You can walk straight down the road directly onto the Markt within literally 2 minutes. Overall, it was good. I would return and I would recommend this accommodation.

“Perfect choice in Brugge”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 August 2010

We were three couples travelling and spent three wonderful nights in Bugge. The apartment Onze-Lieve-Vroux was perfect to accommodate the six of us. It provided easy access to all areas of this great Belgium town. We enjoyed our time here and the kitchen / dining area proved perfect for our home cooked food and the outdoor patio was great on a warm sunny afternoon to try some of the local beers from the honour bar downstairs with the matching glasses for each beer. The wine from the honour bar was also reasonably priced and a good selection. Wouldn't hesitate to stay here again with a group or one couple.
