“Best Bruges Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 January 2012

My Parents, girlfriend and me went to Bruges for the Xmas week. I've been to Bruges on three previous occasions and this was far and away the best trip due to the apartment. We stayed in St Niklaas and it had everything you could possibly want. It's an excellent location, quiet street but a one or two minute walk to Burg and Markt. Nico and Ann are extremely kind and make you feel very welcome. We even had a Christmas tree which was a nice surprise. The honesty bar and dvd collection is a first and feels good to be trusted. Don't think you could have these sort of things in the UK. You are even supplied with an iPad to help with attractions, restaurants and anything you could possibly want to know. It really made our holiday and we will be back and would recommend 110%. Thanks a million Nico and Ann and see you soon. Irene, Jean-Robert, Nikki and Laurent

“Best apartment ever”

Six of us stayed in the Sint Jacob, 4 bedroom apartment in De Drie Koningen in June 2011. It couldn't have been a better experience. First, the apartment is fantastic: high ceilings with wooden beams, well-equipped kitchen, comfortable beds, only three blocks from market square, fantastic honor bar and DVD selection, etc. etc. The sound of the carillon bells from the Belfort coming in the open windows was fantastic. A dip in the small pool after a day of sightseeing was refreshing. A quick walk to the local bakery for morning brotchen was as much fun as picking up bread delivered to our box by the local baker. Local restaurants are great - we tried the little Italian restaurant, just down the street - fantastic, as well as the Irish Pub. Cambrinus, the king of beers, is just a few more steps where I had my best meal of Flemish style white asparagus. An evening stroll along the canal to Punta Est for a class of Sancerre is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I would recommend Drie Koningen with five stars!

“HUGE apartments!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 December 2010

I stayed in the apartment called Carmers and my family stayed in Sint Donaas apartment. Carmers is for 2 people and is absolutely huge! It had everything you needed and it was great to have a choice of DVDs to watch after many tiring hours of walking around Bruge. The apartment had 4 windows and 5 radiators and never felt cold despite being so big. There was plenty of wardrobe space in the bedroom, my only comment is that there is no full length mirror in there. The apartment is very contemporary and even has a lovely roof terrace. The Sint Donaas is a more traditional in style but equally as big and my family loved staying there. Nico was very helpful and although we didn't use the bakery service my aunt did get a bottle of wine from the chiller which was a reasonable price. I can recommend VERY HIGHLY going to the ice/snow show held in front of the railway station - the ice sculptures are incredibly impressive and there's even a 16m ice slide to go down inside (which is part of the Great Wall of China). The theme is heritage from around the world and features 30 different sculptures representing different countries - it's amazing! I don't rate the Xmas markets in Bruge having been to various German and Austrian ones which are a hundred times better than Bruge, however Bruge makes up for it with lots of lovely shops, most of which sell chocolate!! beware - the food is very expensive which is why taking your own to the apartment or buying from the supermarket is the cheaper option. As the kitchens are well equipped it was no problem to do anything! By the way the apartments are SO close to the main squares it's great, and a plus point is that at the end of the road is the entrance to the irish bar which usually has live music on a Saturday night. You can catch up on your emails on the PC in reception and the TV has not only the BBC but also ITV to watch. There was no parking available for us at the apartments but the car park was not even a 10 minute walk away and for 3 nights only came to 25 euros so not bad at all. All good and would DEFINITELY stay there again!

“Fantastic Place”

The accomodation is just devine. We stayed in St. Donaas, and couldn't believe how big it was. It has everything you need and to have the honesty bar and bakery delivery at the reception is a really wonderful touch. The location is fantastic. You are so close to the market square and the burg. Far superior than staying in a hotel.
We didn't meet Nico and Ann as they were on vacation, but we were lucky enough to meet his daughter evie and ben. When we couldn't get to the airport because of the rail strike and not being able to get a taxi to the airport Ben drove us there himself. No hotel would give you such a kind personal service. Can't wait to return to such a great place.

“A wonderful place to stay with a helpful host.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 13 September 2010

My brother and my mother stayed with me in the 'Onze-Lieve-Vrouw' apartment. It has three clean and simple bedrooms and the apartment has a good size terrace overlooking the small garden which gets the sun in the evening. All the rooms were very quiet and we all slept soundly on the comfortable beds. The apartment is large and relaxing and even when you are in a room on the street, it’s such a quiet street that the noise is minimal.

The owner Nico was very friendly and he runs a very efficient operation. The ability to order fresh bread (at reasonable prices) to be delivered by the baker in the morning was a great touch, and the bread was superb. There is also an extensive honesty bar in reception which was much cheaper than surrounding beer shops.

Staying here was a great experience and was very relaxing. Highly recommended.
