The Portinari is a very nice small 4-star hotel in a very good location in mid-town. Check-in was very easy by friendly staff. Elevator. Clean room on 3rd floor was facing the front square, no street sounds to hear due to double, double-glazed windows, even though the sqare and neighboring establishments can be very lively, amazing. Room was of adequate size with nice double bed, 2 small tables with chairs, flat-screen television, in-room mini bar, individual temperatur control, no safe, however. Small bathroom with bath/shower and hair dryer. Shower was great with plenty of hot water. The included breakfast, billed only as continental, is a full buffet to please every taste. I wish, some of the guest would not take advantage of it and pack their lunch. They probably think they are smart, I think they are selfish and have bad manners, it is not fair to the establishment. A small bar serves drinks, beer on-tap and coffee, restaurants are aplenty in the immediate neighborhood. Hotel is a good choice at a reasonable price.

Hotel Portinari is in a great location in a fabulous city. We could walk to everything in Bruges. Many restaurants and sites are just steps away. The hotel is modern and tastefully decorated. Staff is helpful and accomodated our every need. You can't go wrong if you stay at this hotel.

My wife and I just returned from a wonderful trip to Bruges. We stayed at the Portinari Hotel which is located in one of the main squares and a short distance from the train station and many of the wonderful sites in Bruges. The hotel is well appointed and charming. Our room faced the square and was cozy and spotless. And though it was facing the square you couldn't hear a sound outside unless you opened the window. On Saturday mornings there in a large market in the square which is also worth seeing.

Went as a part of a buzzlines package trip to brugges. Hotel location was fantastic... Few minutes walk from main town. Only downsides, hotter than hades, needs some work on the air con, windows need to be open at night. Slighty dissapointed no tea making facilities. But knowing this, the location more than makes up for these points.
