“Good location, parking available”

Characterful building, old world charm, excellent quality breakfast and very friendly staff. Easy access for people with poorer mobility with the ground level rooms, but drawback of some noise from the reception in the hall. Quiet at night though. So, best to ask a room on the first floor if this is a problem. It did not bother us and we would certainly return to this beautiful city. A must for all travellers to Europe. You can breathe the history, a magical place....

“Old, tired and loud”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 November 2011

The hotel is nicely located, the building itself looks great, old and flemmish.
The room we got was small, the furniture was old and cheap and the bathroom didn't have the necessary ventilation. Furthermore room 14 has a horrible parking lot view and is situated opposite the reception desk which was a nightmare during the night and in the morning. This added to the fact that the walls are really thin and the doors are still locked with keys and very cheap ones, doesn't provide a very quiet ambiance to sleep. We had to shower in another room in the morning because we had no hot water in our bathroom.
Other than that the breakfast room is very nice and cosy and the breakfast itself was good.
The room was much to expensive for the experience we had.

Room Tip: Avoid rooms 14 and 15 Room 6 is looked better

“Very Tired Old Hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 November 2011

The location is good and the breakfast buffet is very good, but the hotel is long overdue for a facelift. The whole place smells of stale cigarette smoke and our room had the oldest carpeting, wallpaper and furniture I have ever seen. The free internet didn't really work (only allowed me to go to pages with https designations - could do internet banking but no surfing to find tourist info). It's a real pity because the hotel has the potential to be really charming with its old world design. If I went back I would stay at the Martins Hotel right behind the Clocktower which is only a little more expensive and is nice and modern and closer to the sights.

“Hotel Azalea, Bruges, Belgium”

We just recently returned from a 3 night break at this hotel in Bruges. We have stayed in Bruges on many occasions but first time in this hotel. This is not a modern hotel but it is full of old world charm and character added to which the staff are very friendly and most helpful. Our room was very comfortable and the breakfast was first class. The location of the hotel was also very good being close enough to the centre and yet in a quite area. We would certainly have no hesitation in staying here again.

“Rooms are not great but location is.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 10 October 2011

This hotel is in a great location- but then Brugge is a very walkable city. My husband and I stayed there with a group of 6 other travelers (5 rooms between us) and we all had a similar situation. The rooms did not smell good- very musty and almost like old smoke. One friend had several mosquitos in her room and the couple ended up with tons of bug bites (despite the screen in the window). Our bathroom smelled like old mold and the water had a sulfer smell to it. But the location is very good as is the breakfast. The staff was nice as well but I would not stay here again as we just didn't have a good sleep either night. There are many charming other hotels in this beautiful town. I don't think it was worth the price at all. I am very well aware that European hotels are different from American hotels but in the 7 years I've been traveling to Europe, I would consider this hotel "poor" for a rating.

Room Tip: If you do stay here, you might want to bring some bug spray just in case to kill out bugs that may b...
