The welcome at reception was warm and friendly by a fluent English speaking receptionist. The hotel was undergoing refurbishment of its main restaurant at the front of the hotel with work ending late and finishing early and this was explained by the receptionist. As a result we were put into a room at the rear of the hotel away from the noise to ensure a peaceful night's sleep. The room was spacious with good facilities and two extremely comfortable beds.
The room was spotlessly clean and the individual heating and cooling system was efficient. The bedding was of good quality and a nice addition was the complimentary aroma therapy sleep assistance kit.
One disappointment was the TV which had only 4 English speaking channels but then that's my fault for not speaking French, German, Dutch or Flemish, all of which were available on the TV.
On having a shower I found that the thermostat control seemed to be faulty and I could only get tepid water. I reported this to reception on the way out for the evening and, by the time we got back from dinner, it had been fixed.
The breakfast buffet was, to say the least, extensive, with a wide variety of both hot and cold items available. I was a little suspicious of the coffee machine as they are often a sign of awful tasting coffee but I was pleasantly surprised to be proven wrong and the coffee was pretty good.
Once again the lady who attended the breakfast restaurant was a fluent English speaker, warm and welcoming and very happy to chat and tell of the places to see in her home city.
My only complaint is the twenty one euro per day parking charge but the hotel is in a city where parking is at a premium and I expect this is far less than I would have paid in a town centre car park
Overall our stay at this hotel was good. It is only about a minutes walk from the main central square but is still a peaceful location in which to spend a few days. I would recommend this hotel if you want a comfortable stay at a well run establishment in a central location.
