“Great find”

We arrived at the Brugge railway station in May, we wheeled our luggage to a back corner of Brugge, to find our lovely hotel, thank God for our GPS, which we brought along on our European holiday. The hotel was very nice and so close to the square. Very comfortable, clean room, you can't go wrong. Brugge is very expensive, 25.00euro for a small piece of lasanza and not bread. We went on a nice boat crusie which was worthwhile. In the evening it becomes a ghost town, no one in sight.
Very nice to go there for 1 day.

Room Tip: All rooms are good

“Good Location”

I'll keep it short.. This hotel is in a great location, the staff were really polite and was good value for money - but the one thing that really puts me off giving it a higher rating is that the seperate toilet smelt really strongly of urine from when we arrived and throughout the duration of our stay (perhaps we were just unlucky and I'm sure it was clean but I actually went a bought an airfreshner it was so strong.)

As I say other than that a perfectly fine hotel for a short break - I'm sure thats not the case with all the rooms!

We went to Brugge with 10 family members to see in the New Year. We were very happy with the swift check in/out, polite staff and the lovely inviting entrance/lobby.
The rooms were clean, spacious and well equipped. The showers were amazing!
Although we did not eat at the restaurant we did meet here on several occassions for drinks before we headed out. Prices were ok considering it is a hotel.
The hotel is situated in one of the best places if like us you want to see and do alot of different things. We will definately return.

“Beware when booking a room with a large family”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Having just moved to Paris and not familiar with the fact that hotels in Europe are not really set up for a large families, we booked one room (for our family of 5), for one night at the Novotel in Brugge. The hotel is wonderful, clean and the location is great for exploring Brugge. There is parking under the hotel. Breakfast is good, but pricey (watch for specials when booking). There is a hotel bar and lounge, and a Playstation for kids in the lobby.
When we went to check in to our one room, we were told that our family of 5 had to have 2 rooms- NO exceptions. Luckily they had one that connected, but the price was double.
Now we know, If you are booking at any Novotel, just look for their specials on room rates with kids, you can get a pretty good deal. Make sure that the location of the Novotel is close to where you will be touring, some of them can be located very far away or near airports.

Brugge is a long day trip from Paris, so if you have a car, you can actually do a quick tour of the city, have lunch, and be back to Paris by dinner time. Staying one night is more leisurely: you can have lunch, waffles and beer snack, a beautiful dinner (great restaurants), and see all of the sights easily. Brugge is fun for kids, we took a carriage ride and did the canal tour, fed the swans and bought sweets. There's a little shop that makes large lollipops, amazing to watch from the window! Don't forget to rent the movie "In Brugge" after you've visit -(it's not a kids movie)

“Pleasant room, central location, ameniable staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

This hotel was a pleasant surprise, and probably the best property that we stayed in during our 10-day European trip. The information on the website was completely accurate, and we found the hotel staff professional and helpful.

We arrived early with car, and were immediately able to check into our triple room. While the hotel does not provide parking, there is a public garage across the street from the hotel that charges a reasonable 12 Euros per 24 hours.

The room was small like all European hotels. The set up included a double bed (very comfy) and what looked like a trundle bed. We were weary at first, but both trundles were extremely comfortable. When they were pulled out, there is nowhere to walk in the room.

Everything in the room was clean and neat. The bathroom which included a tub, shower and sink was small. There were plenty of ammenities. The toilet was in a separate room.

This particular property is a child-friendly hotel. The lobby is filled with a playing area for children and there was another area for video games. We had issues with the children running up and down the hallways on our floor with no parent supervision, as well as jumping on/off the beds in the room directly above us. A call to the manager resolved the issue immediately, but it started again the next morning. We were only there one night.

Bruge is a very small town, so the hotels' location was perfect. It was a short walk to shops, restaurants, the markt and all the attractions. Outside of the churches, belfry and christmas market, we did also visit the chocolate museum, and actually learned a lot.

The only thing to point out that seemed "off" was that upon check in, you are presented with 20 euro breakfast coupons per person. You are not able to refuse them (I tried). And, if you don't bring them back upon check out, you are charged for the breakfast. Overall, I liked this property and the proximity to the town.

Room Tip: According to staff, all the rooms are the same size.
