Having just moved to Paris and not familiar with the fact that hotels in Europe are not really set up for a large families, we booked one room (for our family of 5), for one night at the Novotel in Brugge. The hotel is wonderful, clean and the location is great for exploring Brugge. There is parking under the hotel. Breakfast is good, but pricey (watch for specials when booking). There is a hotel bar and lounge, and a Playstation for kids in the lobby.
When we went to check in to our one room, we were told that our family of 5 had to have 2 rooms- NO exceptions. Luckily they had one that connected, but the price was double.
Now we know, If you are booking at any Novotel, just look for their specials on room rates with kids, you can get a pretty good deal. Make sure that the location of the Novotel is close to where you will be touring, some of them can be located very far away or near airports.
Brugge is a long day trip from Paris, so if you have a car, you can actually do a quick tour of the city, have lunch, and be back to Paris by dinner time. Staying one night is more leisurely: you can have lunch, waffles and beer snack, a beautiful dinner (great restaurants), and see all of the sights easily. Brugge is fun for kids, we took a carriage ride and did the canal tour, fed the swans and bought sweets. There's a little shop that makes large lollipops, amazing to watch from the window! Don't forget to rent the movie "In Brugge" after you've visit -(it's not a kids movie)
