“Perfect for a romantic weekend.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 February 2012

My girlfriend coerced me into staying two nights at the picturesque Montnaus instead of three nights in a more functional, central hotel. Don't say it too loudly, but she was absolutely right!

The staff were helpful from start to finish- our every need and query was dealt with quickly (easy enough) and efficiently (much more rare in my experience). We were based in the smaller building in the gardens, where the rooms are probably that bit better value than those in the main building and are ideal for couples. My only regret was that we couldn't make more use of the layout, which is arguably better suited to summer than mid-winter! We were only there for a couple of days, but we had no problems whatsoever with cleanliness or housekeeping.

As for location, it mightn't have been bang in the middle of the city, but Montanus is only a ten minute stroll to Markt and Burg, which I was actually glad for given how busy the centre of Bruges can get in the run up to Christmas.

As I sort of alluded to at the top, Montanus mightn't be the cheapest, but if you want to make your trip to Bruges that little bit more pretty and stress-free, I could hardly recommend it highly enough.

“Great location,good price,lovely rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

This hotel is very well located in the very center of Bruges. Our room was in the backyard with a view over a lovely garden and fountain. Walking distance to restaurants and major sites. The canals are very close by. We managed to have our car parked in front of the hotel.

Room Tip: ask for a room in the backyard

“Adjoining rooms - you can hear everything!”

It is a shame to write this, I liked this hotel, the garden and main hotel is lovely. But the rooms at the back, as seen in the photo are not good. They are clean and tidy, but small. Ours; room 16 had an adjoining room and instead of two sturdy doors to soundproof, there was just one and we heard everything and I mean everything from next door, they were not loud people, just a normal pleasant couple.... The staff were helpful, hotel full, so could not move rooms.

For 180 euro a night, a small room with no privacy is a bit steep. Plenty of small and cheaper boutique hotels, with privacy available.

“Picturesque”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 26 December 2011

The hotel is beautiful. There are two parts of the hotel. One is in the main building the other is across the hotel garden. The garden is beautiful and is a perfect place to sit and read in the summer. The room was a good side and the bathroom was very clean. The bed was comfy and it was warm. The service unfortunately was very bad. I asked for help with working the shower and the person told me he was too busy. I called again and he came fifteen minutes later. There is no free wifi. You have to pay and there is no wifi access in your room you have to sit in the bar or the lobby.

“Very well located and a nice little hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 December 2011

Very nice hotel, decor is lovely and the garden room is very quiet and tranqil. Room was lovely, all in all a very good hotel set centrally but away from the noise (5 mins walk to the main square). Very impressed

Room Tip: Friends stayed in 206 which was massive.
