“Go there. Seriously.”

This is what you're looking for when you go to Brugge. This house is beautiful, the room we stayed in is named Lune de Miel. Very clean, huge comfortable bed, wood everywhere, gives you the feeling to sleep in a medieval castle. The view from the stained glass windows is amazing too (beautiful garden and old houses and church). David, the owner and host, is very welcoming. He took the time to point out the fun tourist stuff to do in town, nice walks, etc. he knows Brugge very well. Don't look for a TV, or a top of the line shower (although the bathroom is quite modern and was bigger than some hotel rooms I booked in Paris... and the bathtub is huge too), what you get here is the quiet and warm "home" feeling that makes you ask yourself why you need a 70" 3D TV.

Breakfast: in one word, amazing. I'm not gonna describe everything, I don't want to spoil it for you.

David, the owner, is also a very talented artist, and you will see his art around the house and also in his home studio.

My girlfriend is from the U.S. and I'm from Quebec, we travel all the time and we stayed in hundreds of different hotels (sad but true). We both agree on this place.

really, I've got nothing to add to previous reviewers, this place is excellent. :)

This place is excellent. The location is superb. The room inspirational. The host is very friendly. The breakfast deserves another name since it consisted of three courses in a magnificient dance of flavours and all catered to our quirky food sensitivities at that!

This is an excellent place to enjoy Brugge which had a peak in the Medieval times. The house is from that same time, the leaded windows are 13th/14th century and the location is in the heart of the places that celebrate that era: the church and the musea. Still, the location is not a died, dry place where only tourist pass. O no, people still live there, it is very much a living part of the town.

To my astonishment there was not a lot of noice. The church does not chime and klingle, not even in summerseason, David told us. There is no traffic with noise. Although the horse carriages do pass but that's no invasive sound. As a nervous and light sleeper I slept wonderful.

Sorry to say only got to stay one night, the location of the house could not be better and WOW what a fantastic building.

David is such a lovely man and his attention to detail is great, your comfort is his pleasure.

David showed us to our room which was on the top floor [2nd], the view from the original stained glass windows is over the canal to the church and its grounds, just stunning.

David then sat down with us in his studio, amongst his paintings to give us points of interest on a map and explained several different walks we could do.

Even though we have been to Bruges many times he still gave us places to visit that we had not seen or would of found difficult to find.

The entertainment system in the bedroom was fantastic, we finished our great day by watching a movie in bed, the movie was projected onto a large screen with surround sound, we enjoyed the movie with a couple of glasses of Cava which David kindly has, gratis, along with water and juice, in the in-room fridge. [the dvd will take your own discs so bring you fav' film and snuggle up and watch !]

The breakfast is served by David in your room, again his atention to detail was great, as for the breakfast, WOW, every item was so fresh, well presented and taste devine.

We could not of asked for any thing else from this wonderful place but on departure David sent us on our way with a signed print of one of his great paintings, what a lovely touch.

If you are looking for a 'hotel' for that special occasion or just a great value for money stay then do not look anywhere else but here.

Once asgain thank you, David.

“Superb!”

My partner and I have just returned from this gem of a b&b in Bruges. It is every good thing you will read in the reviews and more, and we cannot recommend it highly enough.

It is a stunning building in a beautiful location - the constant stream of tourists taking its photo is testament to that. The rooms are wonderful and atmospheric, and the hospitality is everything you could wish for. David's breakfasts are a visual and culinary treat and served in several courses to your room if you wish.

We loved every moment of our stay here, and I'm sure that we'll be back...

“Best place we have stayed at too!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 March 2010

We picked this in part on the basis of some of the rave reviews on Tripadvisor and we were glad that we did.

Perhaps the main reason, as well as the host -- see below -- was the fact that it is part of the history of the town itself, with the carriages going past pointing out the bridge, the historic building, right on the canal etc. I am not sure that you could better the location, if this is what you are looking for, as we were.

Additionally, the host David is very friendly and is most enthusiastic about making sure his guests will enjoy Bruge. He spent a good deal of hi time with us the first night we were there suggesting restaurants, places to visit, things to do and putting them on the map for us. He is not intrusive but interested in his guests and happy to help with anything.

His breakfasts were excellent and a work of art complimenting being surrounded by his art works in the breakfast room. Surrounded by his art, and being there while people visit as part of the art tour was also very interesting for us.

Finally the rooms themselves were very comfortable. Of course they are not modern five star rooms, but that is not why you would choose to stay here. They are however old style, well appointed, very comfortable and in our view a very good mixing of comfort and setting it up in keeping with the building.

It would not suit everyone I suppose, if you are looking for 5 star modern service, and all the business support etc that that provides --and we enjoy that experience too! But for a quality b and b, with the perfect host and staying in a piece of history in a great location, this was the place for us in Bruges!
