When we first arrived at arthostel there was no receptionist to let us in to the building (even though it was during opening hours). After ten minutes of waiting we knocked on the window of the bar and the bartender let us in. A receptionist showed up ten minutes later and got us to our room. The room was very nice but was in a separate building from the reception. Internet in that building was so slow that it was not usable. Walking to the city center took much longer than implied in the description and taking a bus was necessary. (Maybe an hour by foot). The staff spoke a little English and overall was not helpful.

The staff are very friendly, but.....
1. When you book a room listed as having a shower, sink, and or toilet, such as from their website: "2 Bed Private Ensuite, with private shower and wash basin," know that they have zero rooms with ensuite. They are all down the hall- they may be private, but you need your key to lock the door and it is very inconvenient. Not as advertised at all.
2. They claim wireless internet; this is not true. There are two computers you can use, with odd French keyboards, but you'll have to wait in line...
3. "The doorkeeper is always present." but a bit miffed about having to come to the door, as they are never present at the front entry.
4. Location is bad- far from the center.
5. The shower is awful! It is like those sinks in public restrooms- you push down and it runs for a few seconds, then turns itself off. Well, these give you 29 seconds (24 of hot- we timed it several times) of water, but when you push again, it is straight cold water all over, and the shower stall is soooo small there is no way to avoid being blasted by cold water repeatedly! Worst shower ever.
