“Nice hotel right next to a world heritage site.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 January 2012

We stayed in this hotel via a 'hotelweek-deal' (EUR 55 for a double, incl. breakfast), so in that case this was value for money!
When you enter Leuven (route via Antwerp, Mechelen, Brussels Zaventem) you arrive almost immediately in this hotel. At first you think the centre is far, but it is only a 10 minute walk to the historical centre and the location of this hotel is lovely. Near the river Dijle and quiet. The 'groot begijnhof' is right around the corner. It is on the world heritage list, so you can imagine it is worth a visit. Via this begijnhof you can walk to the historical centre of Leuven.
The hotel itself is very nice. The welcome at the reception was hospitable. Rooms are nice, not very big, but enough space for the two of us and our luggage. Great beds and free Wifi availble. Bathroom a bit small, and if I have to mention one point of critisism it is the hair dryer in the bath room; the hair dryer gets really hot in your hands, but it blows a very soft and not too warm 'breeze'...
Breakfast is very good, nice buffet, with local specialities. And they refill it all the time.
The breakfastroom is located in an old renovated barn! Very nice.
Cost for parking a bit high, EUR 12 per night.
The bar is nice for a drink too, but it is rather quiet. And Leuven has plenty of choices there, so maybe it is better to go outside for that.

“Excellent garden hotel in Leuven”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 January 2012

This is an excellent hotel to stay in the beautiful city of Leuven. The hotel have great garden around it and also boosts good rooms and excellent service. The restaurant and the breakfast is also good. Though one can not find too many restaurants nearby the hotel, but it will take hardly 15 minutes walking to reach the city center.

“Not a very comfortable place”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 December 2011

Checked in at midnight and the room was cold. Very cold. Also had an odd smell which they obviously knew about and wouldnt fix as there was a floor standing electric air cleaner unit in the room. Odd. Had to turn the radiator on high, the shower on hot and the bathroom heater on high just warm kup the room. Saving energy is 1 thing but this place is ridiculous. Sent an iron to my room that was obviously broken. Had booked 2 nights here but checked out after 1. Looks better on the outside than it is on the inside. Would recommend the Mercure above this place.

“Clean and Tidy Business Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 December 2011

person found this review helpful

This is a very good hotel to stay at if you are in Leuven for business.

My room was spotless and quiet--unfortunately the decor is outdated. The simple and a modern bar/restaurant had good dinner choices and the morning buffett breakfast was wonderful. Good wi-fi access and helpful front desk staff made this a quality stay.

Unfortunately, it is a bit farther than one would want to walk if you are carrying baggage to and from the train station. Parking is confusing (and expensive) at the hotel and limited (and even more expensive!) in the city. This is a bike laden city of students so arrive by train, take a cab to the hotel with your bags and walk/bike or take transit during your stay.

The weather was quite poor while I was visiting so I was only able to catch a glimpse of the gardens through fog. This is probably a highlight in the spring and summer.

“Small, quiet, and high standard”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 October 2011

Leuven is a small city and most of the hotels arre close to the city centre. However, the city of Leuven is a student city and nighttime it could be a noise problem staying in the hotels in the middle of the city centre,¨
The Begijnhof hotel is located a bit outside the party centre, but you can walk to the city hall in about 8 minutes. The advantage of this is that you will have a good nights sleep and still be close to all attracttions.
The hotel itself is a small and intimate hotel. You can talk to the same barstaff and receptionstaff each day, and they often remember your name or room nr. The food is great, and the service is dedicated and attentive.
Make sure youre asking for a room away from the staircase and the fitness room, because you might experience some noise in this vicinity.
Try a glass of Champagne in the bar ( EURO 8) and you will get a snack/food suprise from the chef included!

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room, away from the staircase and away from the fitness-room
