Novotel Leuven is a large rather modern, hughe building situated apposite the Stella Artois Brewery. The train/bus station and the start of the city centre are at a distance of about seven minutes on foot. The hotel is sandwiched between two fairly busy roads, but the rooms are very well soundproofed. Entering the hotel you will find a large hall with two elevators and a large desk, an internet corner with two computers (which can be used for free during 20 minutes), the bar, the breakfast room and the separate dining room. It all looks clean and modern. The hotel has its own parking: 12,50 euro for the first day and 10,50 euro for the continuing days.
Check in/ check out went very smoothly and the staff is very kind and helpful.
We occupied room 518 which is a very large one with separate bathroom and separate toilet, all impeccable clean. The room is tastefully decorated and has a large box spring double bed. Opposite the bed there is a large LCD-TV with about 30 channels in different languages. At one side of the TV there is a working table with internet connection, at the other side you will find a mini bar, a safe, coffee/tea facilities and a small hallway with wardrobe. The large window is very well soundproofed. All in all an excellent room, but with one problem: the room is too hot. We stayed three nights in November 2011 and the first night we could hardly sleep because of the temperature of the room. The night after we started getting used to it gradually, and it became slightly better although not ideal. Opening the window is not an option because of the noise of the brewery. When we checked out we told the lady at the desk our problem and she would ask the mechanic to look after it. SO, perhaps the problem has been solved.
The bathroom has a perfect shower (no bath tub), and all kinds of amenities including two towels per person.
The hot/cold breakfast buffet is one of the best ever: several kinds of bread and sweeties/pastries, a lot of milk, meat and cheese products. There are several kinds of juices and fresh oranges can be squeezed by yourself. The hot breakfast buffet consists of scrambles eggs, ham, sausages, etc. Here too, staff is very kind and helpful. We once had diner which was of poor quality and overpriced.
All in all the hotel is very recommendable, especially because of the 3=2 offer we got at De Jong Intra booking office.
