“Freezing cold Gent, really warm atmosphere until breakfast.....”

Ok so top marks go to the owners here for this apart hotel, very late arrival, barmaid had my booking and very friendly warm person to check me in, no issues at all. Decent secure car park, tho being a Brit right hand drive the barrier was on the wrong side (I'm joking) anyway.. Car park safe, secure and it's off the street where you can park, but there is a charge.

The room, large, decent size, nice and clean and functional without the need of a wow factor. It amazes me now why all hotel rooms if they can don't open up to be more like apart hotels,

Nothing to niggle over, agree with earlier reviewer there could have been a tv in the bedroom also... I must admit, the adlina apts in Germany score far higher than this... But I gave it a low 4 or high 3.5 if it was available.

So...only niggle... Breakfast..food fine, the space available fine, but... There was nowhere you could sit as the waitress had not cleared the tables, so I sat where I thought I was in the breakfast area only to be told by frosty features "this is for lunch not breakfast" very rude indeed! So beware of the moody grump of a morning... And I don't mean your other half!

Was on business in Ghent, drove through the centre...alas never had time, looks very picturesque. I will return but might order breakfast in bed..if allowed!

Room Tip: Low floor, two flights and ou are in the bar!

“Everything in its place (an enjoyable time staying here)”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 January 2012

Just back from a few days in Ghent. We chose Aparthotel Castelnou for a few reasons. One, we drove, and needed safe and affordable parking. Second, we brought our dog with us and the hotel is very dog friendly. We can add a few more things about this place after our stay. The rooms were very clean, organized, modern and quite spacious. We stayed in what is the equivalent of a suite, with our own kitchenette (which we didn't use). Breakfast is included as is basic internet (slower speed). For those who make a longer stay of it (since the hotel seems to cater to business people who need to stay longer than just a few days) you can get a higher level of broadband internet for a fee. There is a restaurant on the premises, but I cannot comment further as we did not dine there. I can say that the place was tastefully decorated and well maintained, clean and the staff friendly. If you choose to stay here, you must realize you are not in the center proper, but about 10-15 min walking. To me, this is actually a good thing, since the neighborhood is quiet, and walking after a nice Belgian meal is just the thing to work some of it off. The hotel staff can provide you with maps and a guide in a few different languages to get around. We did enjoy our time here and would certainly stay here again. Overall, a clean, safe place for a very reasonable price.

We stayed here for the "Christmas days", and were really surprised ! There have very spacious rooms (ask a room at the back side, and on a higher level, nice view), with a saloon and a little kitchen, even very usefull for a longer stay. The rooms are very new, there is a nice bathroom with bath, and a separated sleeping room with a big double bed (I don't know if every room has a big double bed, better ask it by reservation). We had a good and easy parking for the car in the garage, not expensive (6 euro). The city centre is a nice walk (+/- 20 min), but easy to reach. We were helped very gently by Helena at the reception, and all staff was really very nice to us. If we stay in Gent again, we would never think about an other adress to stay !! Really perfect, thank you !!

Room Tip: Ask a room at the back side, and on a higher level (5 or 6), nice view..and very quiet. Make also re...

“A sound choice!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2011

Really friendly and obliging staff, who could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Room spotless, quiet and well equipped. A really nice place to stay. Secure parking, which although payable is a bonus in the city which is an easy 15 minute walk away. Spent a really relaxing evening at the Celtic Tower bar - relaxing live music and delicious beef in beer! Don't miss the entrance to the hotel car park when you arrive! - it is a garage door a bit before the hotel in the same road. Fob required to access.

“Great place”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 November 2011

Since in some of the reviews that we read people complained about the noise at night in downtown hotels, we decided to go a bit far from downtown, but within a walking distance from it. We chose this hotel, and we found out that it has a cheaper parking than others and the parking can be reserved in advance unlike others. Also they allowed us to leave the car in the parking after we checked out.
The location was perfect, the rooms clean and large, they gave us twin beds instead of a double one, but we didn't mind. The room had a kitchenette (stove, dishes, plates, etc.) with a coffee machine, several coffee discs,as well as tea making items, but we didn't use the kitchen at all.
The temperature in the room was ok and there was not noise whatsoever. Towels were not too thin nor too small.
Breakfast was ok
One of the extra pillows, located inside a bag, was dirty, that is my only complain.
