The guy who runs this place "Frank Zaman" is a fraudulent shonk. We booked this hotel using the web booking service. Due to a flight cancellation, we were forced to cancel our booking. The conditions clearly state on the website that cancellation is free of charge if 24 hours notice is given. We gave in excess of 24 hours notice but were given some story about how the message did not make it to the manager. We were charged the FULL AMOUNT of our stay even though we never arrived. Avoid this place like the plague.

A small hotel run by really friendly people for whom nothing seemed to be too much trouble.
They found out which museums were open, they printed out information on anything we asked for, provided a really tasty breakfast with the freshest ingredients in clean and really comfortable rooms. Brilliant!

We arrived after 6 hours driving and were surprised to arrive in a residential area of Ghent close to the highway and easy to vist the historical city walking or by tram (8 min.) , free private parking facilities and nice location and very cosy garden. Next days we left our car at the parking of the hotel upon the advise of the very friendly manager and visited other cities such as Brussels, Brugge, as the hotel is only 300 m. from the main train station.

It was nice experience staying in Hotel Astoria. Very clean and quiet place, nice breakfastbuffet. The free parking is certainly a benefit. We are sure to come back to this place (Astoria) during our next conference or even if we have the chance of visiting Belgium. Thanks for all your hospitality.
