“Great Location Friendly staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 January 2012

Whilst away on a business trip that lasted longer than anticipated the hotel was able to accommodate us at short notice. They moved some vehicles to enable us to use their secure parking facilities. The room was discounted by 65 Euro (late booking), it was well appointed clean tidy and the bed very comfortable. Breakfast was self service and had a full array of meats, breads, fruit, cereal along with bacon, eggs, sausage. Teas and coffee along with fresh local croissants. At all times the staff were friendly and helpful. As this was a business trip not much tourist time was available but the hotel was very close to a castle and next to some canals and squares which housed a variety of restaurants and bars. I would stay there again. The hotels advertises itself as a 3 star establishment and that is exactly what it is. Clean tidy and comfortable, yes some floorboards squeaked and creaked, yes some areas could do with a lick of paint but its location, friendly staff and cleanliness more than make up for the minor defects.

Room Tip: rooms at the back will be quieter, but room at the front would have a great view of castle adjacent...

“OK rooms, but service left a lot to be desired”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2011

My first impression of the room was that perhaps it looked a tiny bit shabby, but it was ok because we were here for my husband's business trip hence his company was paying for it. Knowing how much the room costed, I probably would have minded a lot more if it came out of my pocket.
It was quite clean, and we certainly did not have the mosquito problem that seemed to occur to other people.
Breakfast was good, but the 'hot' food wasn't great - consisted of congealed scrambled egg left in a bain-marie for goodness knows how long.
I thought the service was pretty terrible. I came in and out of the hotel a few times with a stroller. The door that led to the main foyer had a few steps up leading to a heavy door. The reception desk was a whole two steps away from this door - however the lady behind it did not feel obliged to help me with the door at all, despite not looking like she is doing much, and at other times just chatting to another colleague.

“Don't open the window!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 November 2011

This is mid November and the mosquitos still had us for a midnight night feast because we left the window open! The staff seemed surprised but looking at previous reviews mossies are a real feature of this hotel. Apart from that the hotel was good, our room in the newish annexe was clean and quite spacious, the bed very comfortable and the breakfast good. Best point is the location, within walking distance of all the sights and the number 1 tram takes you straight to the railway station.

Room Tip: The annexe is very quiet.

“Mosquito coast”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 August 2011 via mobile

I stayed at this hotel with my wife and 2yr old son. We booked the room for 6 nights and moved out after the second night. Many of the rooms do not have screens on the windows and are not air conditioned. The rooms are hot and smelly. The first night we opened the window and we were swarmed with mosquitos. When we came down stairs to go out for a walk we were met with a flood of raw sewage. Terrible hotel.
