From the moment of arrival on the waste ground that the hotel has the nerve to call a carpark and charge for its use the overall impression is poor.
The hotel reception staff are polite and the reception and restaurant/bar area look wonderful - they are the best bit of the hotel.
Now go to the rooms which seem dark, and dated. I'm not sure if they are in need of refurbishment or that they have been poorly refurbished.
The fitness centre is less than I'd expect from a holiday inn.
All of the above do not destroy the visitor experience, sadly the things that do are the abysmal service in the restaurant and bar.
Enter the bar and restaurant area in the evening and you enter a world where customer service is an alien concept. Although bar meals are shown on the bar menu in the bar - the staff will not serve them in the bar and demand that guests go into the restaurant, even if the customer is working on their laptop or has a lot of bags. Apparently they are busy when they have more than 12 customers in the restaurant/bar.
The best part of the evening was leaving the ignorance of the staff in the bar and returning to the room. The best part of the stay was leaving the hotel on the last morning.
On a positive side, the breakfast hot and cold buffet was varied and excellent, but would have to be one of the best on the planet to compensate for all the other faults of ths hotel.
If I had read the tripadvisor reviews first I would have seen that poor service is highlighted on many of them, it is disappointing that this seems to re-occur on many reviews.
If you are going to the Expo, this hotel makes sense for you, but don't expect too much. It's not a hotel I would recommend to any friend or coworker, and one that I hope I never have to stay at again.
