I had stayed a number of times (Accor silver card holder) and was quite happy (apart from the mouse running around the bar). FYI The barman is a great guy. Then I was working late one evening and called the hotel at 2 MINUTES past 6pm and was told my room was re sold!! The receptionist was not very helpful either, so be careful...money comes before loyalty at this hotel.....

“Mixed feelings”

Stopped there for a night on our way to France.
Location is very nice but finding your way driving is a nightmare - my wife had to go there on foot to ask for direction.
Lobby is nice and modern but smell of sewage is pretty strong.
Staff is very helpful and there are some activities for kids like Xbox and lego and books but the room was pretty cold and we had to run heater on max for the whole time.
breakfast was pretty pricey too - 20 eur is a bit high in my opinion while there was no much difference from other accor hotels breakfast which is usually around 14 eur

“Functional, good location and reasonable value”

Pleasant, modern, functional hotel very well situated in the old town centre. Did not eat there so cannot comment on food. Efficient booking etc service. Room fine, with bath/shower and separate toilet. Everything worked and was in good decorative order. Only complaint - ironically, since it was very cold outside - was that the room was too warm and the temperature controls seemed to make no difference!

“Poor Customer Service”

On our arrival to the Novotel Gent Centrum, our stay there was sadly not quite as enjoyable as we expected. We found check-in very swift and the lobby area and bar very modern and stylish however, what was off putting was the strong smell of sewerage that hung in the air. The rooms were average and of a good size but a good nights sleep was almost impossible due to the noise from an alley way which was cobbled, and every morning the deliveries drivers would bring the trolleys up the alley way to off load. Also, very close by is a square, and we experienced people of all hours passing through the alley way being of course, slightly merry to say the least but most of all... The church bells (although I love them) never ever stopped ringing so, my advise would be to request a room that faces inwards towards the swimming pool - courtyard view. That way you would be sheltered from the side and the front of the hotel were people and holiday coaches pass and stop off. Food was average and drinks usual hotel prices. My main concern though was the hostile nature of two members of restaurant staff who were extremely unprofessional, one being the restaurant manager. If they can't deal with calm and reasonable guests then there is something very wrong, and I would expect a staff member no matter what rank or role, to have some professionalism in the work place. I hope training needs are identified and amended swiftly because we tried to make a complaint, and to no avail. Them aside most staff were friendly and helpful, as are the locals and we will return to Ghent, it's just so charming however we will be staying elsewhere on our return visit.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the courtyard may be quieter.

The hotel is ideally situated for the centre of Ghent with its many attractions although finding your way by car is a nightmare and parking at the hotel limited and expensive.
Disappointingly reception on arrival was not up to expectations. We were allocated two rooms,one specifically for disabled and thus lacking the standard comforts,chairs etc and the other where the heating did not work. the attitude of the receptionist bordered on the surly and no attempt was made to address the situation - claimimg that the hotel was full which it was not athe time of our arrival.
Maid service was a bit slack, no attempt was made to remove empty glasses or bottles throughout our five night stay.
Beyond that the friendliness and helpfulness of the rest of the staff was exceptional.
