We really enjoyed our stay at this well positioned hotel. The rooms were clean and the beds very comfortable. The food was varied, very well cooked and very well presented. The staff were excellent, friendly and very helpful. The central position ment very easy access to shops, bars and public transport as well as to the historic buildings of the city. Would like to return again next New Year if not sooner. An Excellent Hotel.

As you will have read there is a massive amount of work building the new Town Hall going on front of the hotel. the easiest was to access it is to follow the signs for the Friday Market (Vrijdag Markt) the NH Hotel is signposted there, follow that and turn right in front of the NH you will see the Novotel car park signed there. This costs 16 euros per night. You will always get an extremely warm and efficient welcome from the staff on reception I cannot praise them highly enough. The rooms are a good size with a sofa which can be made into a bed. Lovely bathrooms with power showers. We were a little worried that it would be noisy with the work being carried out but the windows are well insulated and if you are worried ask for a room overlooking the courtyard. The breakfast room is pleasant although unforunately at the moment overlooking the work in progress although someone had strung fairy lights on the barriers. The breakfasts are varied and should suit most peoples needs. The bar area is very pleasant ,again with efficient staff. All in all a good experience.

I loved this hotel. It was c lean, efficient and the staff were friendly and helpful. They were great with my young children too. The only draw back is that the hotel is adjacent to a building site as they are redeveloping the main square. There was no noise or disruption from the building works however this spoilt the ambiance of the hotel Aside from this, Gent is a wonderful place, just as attractive as Bruges but less tourists. Once the building works are complete (next year, I believe) the hotel will be in the perfect location for exploring the city and absorbing the atmosphere of this beautiful city.

One tip - they have recently pedestrianized some of the roads around the hotel causing havoc when you try to locate the hotel via satnav. I would recommend calling the hotel on your arrival in Gent and asking for directions.

Stayed one night in this hotel through hotels.com and got a great deal, we had a family room for 2 adults and 2 children. The room itself I would describe mroe as a suite with a seperate bedroom with bunk beds for the kids and an extremely large main bedroom. Could not fault the rooms in anyway and had a great nights sleep. Staff very helpful and with the Xbox in the lobby it kept the kids amused during checkin adn we had some free gifts for the children which was ncie. An excellent hotel and will stay again.
