“Clean, quiet and comfortable”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 September 2011

This is a good little hotel in Aalst which is a pleasant little town. I felt the room was clean and adequate with a firm bed and a good bathroom. I did not take an evening meal but the breakfast was pretty good. I found this a good alternative to staying in central Brussels with good access to Ghent and Brugge.

“Clean, quiet little 3 star hotel.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 October 2010

This neat and tidy little Best Western looks like a recent refurbishment, and they did a good job. Our twin room was a comfortable size, the bathroom included. Shower hot and strong, a large TV, crisp linen on the firm mattresses.

Breakfast was modest, a selection of pastries, fruits, cereals, bread, bacon, scrambled eggs, with tea, coffee and hot chocolate served with a smile.

Internet connection cost €5.00 for an hour which seems a bit punitive in these modern times, however considering the reasonable price for these quality rooms, it did not break the bank. We got our rooms for far less than the €140-€200 I have seen quoted.

Although a fine place to stay, you could not call it a 4-star, as that implies a level of service and amenities that were not present here.

Off street parking was a bonus. There was a sauna and gym, which I did not have the time to review.

“Not a 4 star, overpriced”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 May 2006

Room (standard): The room was spacious and spotless clean but a 3 star and certainly not a 4 star bedroom. The interiour was simple and what you may expect from an average Best Western. The bathroom was small and even more basic than the room itself and to my opinion almost didn’t live up to a 3 star. The bed was average, the pillows good. The quality of a lot of channels on the tv were very poor, no CNN or BBC World.

Area: The hotel is very well situated only a two minute walk to the grand place of Aalst.

Breakfast: I had breakfast in my room, it was good. They didn’t charge me extra for the room service.

Staff: Very friendly and helpfull.

Bar/restaurant: The small bar is nice. They call it a piano bar, the piano was there but nobody to play it. The food in the restaurant was average to good.

The hotel presents itself on their website as a luxurious 4 star hotel. I’m used to stay in 4 and 5 star hotels and this is without any doubt not a four star, but only a decent 3 star hotel. Although they charge prices of a 4 star hotel, the room wasn’t worth 155 euro at all. I would recommend this hotel if you can get a 80 or 90 euro rate at most, don’t pay more, it’s certainly not worth it. Also their wireless internet is overpriced. They charge 10 euro for one hour or 30 euro for 12 hours. I’ve never paid such prices for internet even in 5 star hotels.

In conclusion: an average and overpriced hotel that presents itself as a 4 star but don't live up to it in any way.
