Beauregard accepted my booking in February 2006 but appeared reluctant to meet their comitment on our arrival. Rooms were poorly prepared and the attitude of the receptionist was appalling. We did not feel welcome. This is very much a take it or leave it Hotel with non-existent customer service. Its only redeeming feature is the price and its proximity to the centre of Namur - however, I would trade a longer walk and a higher price for a smile and some decent service any day!

Stayed one night which was enough. Managed to book in, hand in key for evening out & collect key on return without any of the staff saying anything remotely pleasant. No wellcome, hello, have a nice day or enjoy your stay.

Also found the bathroom had not been cleaned or re-equipped. Didn't get an apology and had to push to get it done.

Very bland rooms and reception areas

Stayed in five different hotels during the week and this one was clearly the worst

I stayed here as part of a group touring France, Switzerland, Germany and Belgium, for one night in September 2006. Never again! Our rooms were booked in February 2006, yet when we arrived, instead of the confirmed booking of 6 twin rooms, they had only 4 doubles. [It was a group of friends, doubles were not appropriate.] After much discussion they gave us another two rooms [despite having first said they were full]. Some of the rooms were used and uncleaned - again no apology.

When the group came back from dinner at a restaurant in town, there was no-one at reception to give out the room keys. 15 minutes later, one of our group collected the keys from behind the counter, at which point two bouncers from the casino attached to the hotel, and the receptionist who had clearly been studiously ignoring us, appeared at once. The receptionist told us that as far as we were concerned, he was "a god" [actual words], and we should have waited until he was ready. We asked for the duty manager, at which point the receptionist said we should leave if we didn't like it [at 11.30pm], and steadfastly refused us access to management in order to complain.

If I was forced to be nice about this appalling hotel, the view out my window was OK, and the breakfast buffet was acceptable. My guess is that the Casino brings in the money and they don't care much about the hotel side of the business. They certainly don't care about their guests.

Stayed here for a short break (Mon-Fri) last week and were unimpressed, except for location and price. As a base for exploring the Ardennes Namur is perfect and the situation of the hotel on the Meuse is great, and we were lucky enough to get the river view room we requested on booking. It is also an easy 2 hour drive to beautiful Bruges. Staff are obviously not used to dealing with chirpy tourists but as it is heavily conference based more used to starchy business people. They were polite but not really interested and one of the breakfast room women was positively surly. It took 24 hours to get extra pillows, but the broken bathroom light was fixed straight away. Not so lucky with the bedhead light which was still flickering when we left! Contrary to the website description there was NO minibar and NO fridge in the room, which was also very starkly designed with the only cupboard space being the wardrobe and no other cupboards or drawers to put anything away. They would definitely benefit from Air conditioning as the room was stifling in temps up to 38 degrees. The only public area is in the Casino Bar & Restaurant (good food and good value for money if you take the buffet option) and there is NO lounge as stated on the website. Given the huge empty soulless foyer, they could surely provide a comfy public lounge area overlooking the river. The website did not mention that there was wireless internet access so we left the laptop at home. Big mistake!! The only english speaking channel on tv is CNN!! Their brochure says that the breakfast is "sumptuous" but that is certainly not the case, as the photo shows. In such high temps all of the meat, cheese, milk, etc should have been in a chiller cabinet, but it was just on plates open to the atmosphere for a three hour session. One morning there was not even any water to drink (If there is no bottled they will not supply tap water, as is the case in restaurants so be prepared to pay through the nose for water!) so we didn't partake, and to be fair they knocked breakfast off the bill when we complained. With a bit of fine tuning it could be a very welcoming hotel and make the most of its excellent location. Parking is free and very easy in the street behind the hotel and road access in and out of Namur is easy. We were on a special offer through Bookings so we only paid 64.5 euros a night including taxes and breakfast, and at that price we would possibly stay there again, but this time would take the laptop! A daytrip not to be missed is Han-sur-Lesse with the magnificent caves after which highly recommend "La Pavillon" restaurant which turned out not to be the tourist trap we expected but a well priced establishment serving excellent local food.

This hotel has good points and some not so good points. It is a three star but characterless. When you walk passed a particularly miserable concierge you are presented with a large empty, ugly foyer. The reception desk is huddled in one corner. After checking in, by a polite but uninterested clerk you are shown a lift which is more akin to a workman’s entrance than a three star residence.

The rooms are the usual three star chain hotels standard. They are adequate size, with the usual facilities and well worn. Adequate but not exciting, not even interesting. The rooms have a river or castle view. We were allocated a castle view and no chance of changing though I suspect the hotel was nowhere near full. The castle view is not much, mainly trees. The breakfast was chain hotel (sub)standard. The breakfast room was uninspiring and the coffee was from a machine. I suspect it was some variant of instant and not so tasty at that.

The good points,(I struggle a bit here), are the location and the price. The location is close to the old town. It's within easy walking distance. You can leave your car safely in the lane that runs behind the hotel and walk in to town. There is a "Casino Club" which presents buffet themed food (Greek the night we were there), if you do not want to walk far. You have to show ID to get in. If the hotel was any better the price for a central hotel would be more than 70€ including breakfast.

The hotel is also a Casino, which we did not visit. The Casino caused no problems at all. We thought it might be noisy but we hardly heard anything. I think the hotel is there for the Casino rather than vica versa. Given that you would think there would be more about the hotel. Sadly Las Vegas it is not.

I would stay here again because of the price and convenience.
