“Adequate for an overnight stop.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 October 2011

I have now stayed at this hotel for one night on four occasions whilst in transit from Dunkirk to Bavaria and return. The standard is just about adequate for this purpose. Admission to the car park is by "token" available from the doorman and will cost you Euro 5. Be aware that this charge relates to EACH TIME the barrier opens - Euro 5 will park your car for a week if you wish, but if you exit the car park for any purpose whatsoever, it will cost you Euro 5 EACH TIME THAT YOU WISH TO RE-ENTER !!!

Room Tip: Front overloks the river and main road - good outlook, but noisy.

“Stay away from this hotel”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2011

Missing staff that failed to look after our luggage.

Worn down carpets in hallway.

Rooms in need of modernisation.

Road with heavy traffic just outside.

“Don't expect much”

I booked this hotel online and was attracted to its location, price and the fact that it 'promised' a river view room which looked so pretty on the pictures. Well we won't be staying there again. Apart from the location which is great as it's only minutes from the centre, the hotel is quite dingy for the price. Firstly, we didn't get the riverview room, instead we were put in the back of the hotel by which we were very disappointed, but consoled ourselves with the fact that we were facing the impressive citadel. There were gents shaving bristles around the taps and the room didn't feel too clean - although the bed was superb. The TV didn't work (weren't bothered anyway) and there were dead flies in the window. We complained to the receptionist who looked like he wanted to tell us to just go away, and said he couldn't do anything about the room location but would clean the bathroom. He didn't. Breakfast was very disappointing and we tend to compare standards with Germany where, no matter where you stay, everything is always so nice and clean and fresh. The breakfast room was shabby with the carpet full of old stains and at the far end were a couple of dented, rusty old deep freezers and stacked chairs. The food was, as an earlier commentor has already mentioned, quite cold so, coupled with the state of the room, we did not enjoy it at all.

“Good location”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2010

Well placed 3 minutes from the edge of the town centre. The hotel is poorly laid out with lots of stairs and is only there to service the casino. However the rooms are fine with views over the river. Parking is secure in the basement. Staff are not the most cheerful, but OK. The breakfats is adequate but expensive. The room rates are fair though.
