The Hotel d'Orange is no longer a hotel, but the 8 hotel rooms have been converted into 4 apartments, 2 of which are permanently occupied and the other 2 rented out to tourists via booking.com only. As the hotel will change owner soon, it's uncertain whether this will continue. It would be a pity if it didn't, because this is a really nice place to stay for people who want to visit this part of the Ardennes. The hotel is right in the middle of Stavelot, which is a nice little town with a large abbey, some nice cobbled streets, and several acceptable restaurants. The surrounding area is even nicer, with green hills, valleys and rivers that are great for walking, cycling or driving around. The city of Spa is only a 15 mins drive away, and the race track is even closer.
The apartment itself is spacious, with the living room (including 2 bunk beds) at the front of the building and the bed room at the back. The street in front of the hotel has cobbled stones, so even though there is little traffic, it might be an issue for light sleepers in the bunk beds. At the rear there are no noise problems, except for the wooden floor: this creaks so loudly that it is almost impossible to walk around at night without waking up everybody else in the room. The kitchen is small but functional. It's definately possible to cook meals here, should you feel so inclined. The bathroom is spacious, and consists of a shower over a bath tub. Water pressure and temperature are absolutely fine, but the room does get quite wet when taking a shower. There is a private parking space opposite the hotel.
