“Miami Vice Lives: Room Interior”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 29 January 2011

(Heavy Sigh) Another hotel with "renovated rooms". This usually means swapping out the old Magnavox 19" with a flat panel, installing a gimmicky matress and wi-fi. In this case, someone let in the Decorator from Hell who's last job was redoing Ricardo Tubbs apartment on Miami Vice. Zebra striped pillows and giagantic tacky leather chairs that were not even comfortable. The bath towels could plausibly be used to sand down the rusted hull of a ship and nobody pays any attention to the no-smoking floors.

Okay the good news. If you have to stay in Liege, there isn't many choices so this is probably the best bet. Nice front desk people, a bar tender who was watching the clock every ten seconds so he could kick us out. It's clean. You need a engineering degree to figure out the parking garage arrangement.

Mixed review. Mixed hotel. It's okay.

“Very good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 January 2011

Mercure Liege is a very good hotel. It has all that it takes for a comfortable stay. The rooms are nice and well cleaned. The only drawback is that there is no fridge. The staff was friendly and helpful, though one particular person would not help me get some coins to use the distributing machine for a bottle of water, but the next morning another receptionist did just that! Any way, I was completely satisfied with the stay there and for anyone visiting Liege and in need of a good hotel with reasonable prices and a good location, Mercure Liege would be a perfect choice.

“Functional,comfortable & friendly..what more do you need ?”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 17 December 2010

I stayed at this hotel in early December having arrived as part of a coach party on board Leger (L8GER) en route to our Christmas Markets Tour.

The hotel is situated almost centrally in Liege and it is only a short walk down the road to the town square and main shopping areas.

The hotel does look look particularly luxurious on the outside but then it isnt meant to be.

It is quite simply a city centre hotel which provides a warm welcome and a comfortable stay and in this respect, it does it very well.

The hotel features a bar/dining area,a small office/business centre and conference rooms which double as breakfast dining area.

The rooms are designated non smoking though there may be some smoking rooms as i am not sure of the laws in Belgium relating to smoking indoors.

Our room was on the fourth floor. It was well equipped with a double bed,a sofa which doubled as a bed/settee if required,a table and chairs, flat screen tv and coffee/tea making facilities with the typical mini bar.
In some reviews there is a mention of the hotel being refurbished and i suspect that my room had been recently fre carpeted and redecorated.

The bathroom was nicely tiled, clean and with the all important great shower with high flow and plenty of hot water.

Breakfast-again a good selection of hot foods, cereals, fruits, yoghurts etc etc.

All staff efficient and friendly.

Really all very acceptable and no complaints.

Dont expect stunning views as it is,after all,in the city centre.

We didnt eat evening meals in the hotel but were very fortunate to find the small restaurant/bar "Au Point de View" which is about 10 minutes walk after turning left outside the hotel. Separate review to follow.

Pcs are of actual room pics.

“Functional”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 11 November 2010

This hotel is very basic. Its clean and functional. On a positive note there is tea making facility in the room. On the negative side there is no in room wifi or internet access. The breakfast was a bit meagre compared with some but ample. Micro sausage, bacon and scrambled egg. The croissants were very nice. There was fruit juice and cold meats and cheeses. The staff though were very courteous, polite and helpful. The hotel is located near the action in Liege and a short walk from the cathedral district where all the shops and eating locations. The car park is very convenient as it is adjoined to the building. I would suggest that this is a good basic location for a business traveller who is only staying the one night.
