“Exceeded our expectations.”

My partner and I travelled to the Hassotel in April 2011, the sole purpose of our journey was to attend a music event at the nearby Ethias Arena, The staff at reception were really welcoming and helpful with directions. We recieved the card to our room and made our way up using the lift. When we went into the room it was fresh and tidy although when i went to hang my scotland flag over the picture a plie of dust fell onto the bed. The shower was in working order and overall the bathroom was well cleaned. breakfast was a buffet offering hot breakfast food, cereals, yogurts, fruit juices etc. The hotel was located next to what seemed like the main square in Hasselt with a selection of bars, restraunts and shops. The local taxi service is excellent offering flat rates anywhere around the city.

Room Tip: ask for a sea view

“Top of the bill!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 21 October 2011

Last week we stayed in one of the marvellous rooms de luxe to celebrate our anniversary. We had a great time discovering Hasselt and the "Jeneverfeesten"
What an extraordinary experience to stay in this hotel! We were given a warm welcome by the friendly staff at the reception. The room was neat and clean,we could have all we wanted from the mini-bar (no extra chargess!) and we had a very good night's sleep in the comfortable bed.
The breakfast buffet was to die for, not only was there a great variety, but the buffet was constantly being refilled, so we could enjoy everything while it was warm.
If you're planning a trip to Hasselt, one place to stay:Hassotel!

“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 July 2011

Hotel and hotel rooms are currently being refurbished. This however does not seem to impact the 'quality of life' in the rest of the hotel too much.

The 'old' room provided in a clean and comfortable environment to get a good night's sleep, not more, not less, which if just fine. Did not use the air conditioner because night temperatures were pleasant. Bed and furniture are okay still likely to be improved once they get upgraded in view of the refurbishing project currently being carried out.

Fair selection for breakfast - just to mention that sausages and the scrambled egg get a bit overcooked while sitting in the display trays.

Value for money was right - we did not need to use the ear plugs kindly provided in the room.

“Poor”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 22 April 2011

Stayed there as no rooms where I should have stayed, recommended by a friend that, unfortunately didn't know the place well, although uses to go the restaurant.

I usually go to expensive hotels, but I am able to value the money I pay and what I get. For the prices of this hotel and what I got, all I can say is that it is expensive and poor.

The bed was not really comfortable, the wardrobe was inexistent, no safety-box (or I couldn't find it), old carpet, poor decoration. The bathroom was old and extremely poor in quality, like a middle class house of the 80's in a small town out of London, or out of Brussels, as this is. Poor amenities, too.

Breakfast artificial, couldn't find butter on the buffet that is placed on the back-of-the-house of the restaurant (you feel like walking through the kitchen...), juice average, croissants and so also average. But it all looks kinda fashion and modern, which it is not. It is just a small village and a place wanting to be trendy (which it isn't).

Honestly, seeing the prices of other alternatives, I would choose the branded hotels. At least you more or less know what you will get.

Maybe this is because my room was not renovated, but if you have such a difference between rooms (the things on the website, I didn't see), just don't give the non-renovated rooms to a direct paying guest that comes as a walking from somebody who knows the place.

Room Tip: If you must stay here, only accept a renovated rom

“Impressive”

Situated to the north west of Brussels this smallish town has plenty to see and do. I spent 3 nights at this hotel and was very impressed with te level of service. A standard enough room but everyting worked and was in good order. The room and hotel are kept to a high standard trougout. The inouse restaurant and bar looked excellent and each room has 3 free pieces of fruit, bottles of water, belgium waffel and a packet of crisps each day. A good hotel in a good location and a competitive price. I Loved it!
