“Sehr mangelhaft - Very disappointing”

We stayed here for one night - 2 adults and 2 kids. We had booked a suite that was supposed to have been recently refurbished but instead we received a standard room at a noisy lower floor. The fittings were old, the shower head broken. The remote for the TV did not work. In the small room - annex for the kids - the curtains were not even covering the entire window. The staff at the hotel was not authorised/able to change our room, no manager was available. The restaurant was being refurbished and we had to walk around to find a place to eat. The sourrounding area did not seem very friendly/safe. The hotel should bearly be a 2 star facility. Overall very disappointing.

“Fine for my needs”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 7 June 2011

Leonardo is a modern, functional hotel that perfectly suited my needs of a one-night stay and off early in the morning. Reception could not have been more helpful and my room was fine and surprisingly comfortable. And even though it overlooked a main road and roundabout I was never disturbed by noise (apart from a massive firework display half an hour after midnight!)

It made a pleasant change to be able to soak in a bath and rinse off with the shower head and most importantly I slept pretty well.

I received a good recommendation for a nearby restaurant and in the morning enjoyed the hotel breakfast.

“Noisy hotel, with unwelcoming rooms!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 November 2010

We stayed here for two nights. Our first problem was finding the hotel, our fault really, as my husband had forgotten the map he printed out! We had booked a 'junior suite', and what a disappointment! We were on the 5th foor, overlooking another street and the ring road. The room had no air-conditioning, and it was far too noisy to open a window to let in any fresh air. The heating was at times too hot. When we walked in to the room we were struck by the starkness of the decor - mid-beige walls, grey/brown carpet, brown 'leather look' sofa. The lighting was also very poor, and harsh. If this is was the 'beautiful design and superior facilities' the hotel promised, then they have a very different idea of beautiful design to me, and would they class as 'basic' facilities then??
The staff had very little command of English, making even checking in quite difficult.
We used the restaurant on our first evening, but felt rather like 'second class citizens' as we were English. Also this was a separate business to the hotel, and therefore you were unable to charge your meal to your room. Breakfast was ok, but as another reviewer said, there was a notice forbidding you to take any food from the breakfast room!
We really had expected a 'junior suite' to be more welcoming, and have the 'little extras' such as decent sized bath towels, and perhaps bathrobes and slippers, but no, just the usual tiny bath towels, no robes, no slippers, and no toiletries other than shower gel on the wall by the bath and liquid soap in a dispenser by the sink. The room had a separate toilet and bathroom, but even though there was a sink in the toilet there was no soap. The toilet also smelt unpleasant, even though it had obviously been cleaned.
On the plus side, there were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, and the tv could get BBC1.

All in all, I would not go back to this hotel. It needs some maintenance, such as paint the rooms a warmer, more welcoming colour or at least break up the plainess of the walls, fix the broken window sills in our room, put up decent curtains at the windows - they let in a lot of light -, and put in double double glazing to keep out the continual traffic noise from the ring road! Single double glazing does not work!!

“Surprisingly Nice Hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 25 September 2010

I was quite surprised by the bad reviews given about this Hotel in Trip Advisor. The hotel is clean as were the rooms, there's a hairdryer and kettle to make coffee and tea. The hotel was full when we were there. The town is nice and quiet, although there are rumors that you have to watch your money and passports when walking around town, don't take large amounts of money or your passport with you, they should be kept in the Hotel's safe. Taking food out from the breakfast buffet is strictly frowned upon. They go to the extent of communicating this by putting up several signs but only if they could write it properly in English........"Eat food in Restaurant only and not be caught." They put the translation in other languages as well except it was printed backwards. The waitress even went to the extent of sitting at the table where the offender was sitting to make sure they were not taking any sandwiches out of the restaurant with them. She told them that she was going to sit there to make sure they ate everything they put on their plate. So make sure you don't pile a whole bunch of food on your plate.

“Adequate but wouldn't stay again.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 December 2009

Myself and a female friend stayed here for 2 days from 54-7the December 2009 thinking it would be a change from going to Brussels. I picked this hotel specifically because it said on Venere.com that it provided an airport shuttle bus and that it had a leisure centre/gym. However, the hotel DOES NOT provide a shuttel bus, it will cost you €20 in a taxi to reach the hotel. Also the gym consisted of 3 pieces of ancient gym equipment which barely worked stuck into a very bleak basement hallway, a complete joke, you would injure yourself using this equipment as its that old! However, this leisure area does contain a seperate solarium room with a free lie-down sunbed and also a small sauna room which is manually controlled. Obviously its more energy efficient to not have the sauna switched on all of the time but I eneded up not using it at all as I couldn't be bothered waiting for it to heat up. We didn't have breakfast in the hotel as I thought the €10 charge was a little steep, much better and cheaper to grab a coffee and croissant outside somewhere. The hotel is located a short walk from the main centre which would have been fine except that we (2 girls) got quite a lot of harassment from the local guys pn the walk back to the hotel on the Saturday night. We got numerous loud comments and jeers and 3 or 4 cars actually pulled up to us on the sidewalk trying to get our attention or get us into the cars. Very creepy and potentially dangerous. The staff in the hotel were very pleasant and the rooms were clean but a little small. Oddly, we found quite a lot of lady-bird bugs in the room so perhaps there was some sort of nest near-by but hopefully not in the room itself. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room but no milk or cream and the tv was free to use but no English channels available. The hotel itself was quite and peaceful but only one square pillow is provided, we didn't ask for any extra ones but I got the impression from the helpful staff that it wouldn't have been a problem. All in all, I think I would choose a different hotel next time as this hotel had nothing additional to make it better than your average hotel and I would pick one closer to the centre for safety reasons.
