Just stayed at the Royal Hotel last weekend. I had never been to Belgium before and we booked it last minute. It was the cheapest hotel in our internet search so we went with it. I suppose you get what you pay for. The "reception" is a tiny hole in the wall. Speaking of holes..our bathroom had a huge hole in the door. But that didn't matter as the door didn't close anyway.
We asked to change rooms and had to wait several hours. Our new room was a lot better, I have to say. The only problem we had with it was that the sheets and pillows stink of smoke!! All rooms in the hotel are smoking rooms, as far as I could see. One person asked could they smoke in the room and they were told "yeah, but do it out the window!"
I don't know anything about breakfast as we never ended up going, we didn't think it would be nice anyway. We were told it was in another building but we didn't get to see it. I think we were told the other building was what we may have seen advertised online. The photos online are very misleading. Unless you are really broke, I wouldn't recommend staying here..only good thing really is the location. It's about a 10 minute walk to the centre and La Grand Place.
