“Good price, clean, near enough to everything for me”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

Got a really good price on this hotel, and was hoping it would be clean, big and not too far from public transport. Win win on every front! The hotel is very large and looks great. There is a 'business centre' with two laptops and a PC available for guests to use for free, as well as free wifi. The bar is nicely decorated and not too expensive, with friendly, helpful barmen. Didn't eat here so can't comment on the food. Our room was away from the road, on the second floor, and was very quiet. only noise was from other guests. The blackout curtains were great. The bed was a little too firm for me, but my husband slept well on it. The room was a good size, with an armchari, an upright chair, and a desk, as well as a cupboard underneath the TV to store things in. TV has several English language channels for free. There was a double wardrobe with plent yof hangers, and a safe. Bathroom could do with the grouting cleaning, but wasn't gross. There was an over bath shower which had good pressure, a large sink, and plenty of spare loo rolls. There were two large towels, two small towels, a hand towel and a floor towel in the bathroom. Towels and sheets were changed every day.
The hotel was 5 minutes walk from Gare De Nord, from which you could get anywhere easily. !0 minutes walk takes you to a busy area with restaurants and bars. Yes, it was quiet at night to walk back to the hotel, but always felt perfectly safe. The lit up builings on the way were quite spectacular too!
I'd stay here again without hesitation, it was just right.

“This hotel is proof that stars mean nothing.”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 January 2012

The only thing 'four stars' about this hotel are the receptionists. They are very friendly and welcoming.

However, the hotel itself was not as good as expected. For example, this is the first time ever I have stayed in a hotel where room temperature could not be regulated (air was dry, temperature too high). Also, there was no minibar/refrigerator in the room, which was surprising, because when we checked in we were asked to block 50 Euros from our credit card 'for the minibar and other services'.

The room was spacious and clean, but the bathroom was not so clean (some very suspicious reddish stains around the bathtub and on the floor) and the bed is so light in weight that if you lean against the wall (reading a book, watching tv) the bed would move away from the wall.

Also, the location is quite far frome the city centre. On one side of the hotel, there's a business district. On the other side, there's a bad looking neighborhood without any nice cafe's or restaurant. Basically, all food you can have within walking distance is kebab. Except for the hotel restaurant, which is not too bad, although the owner(?) was not very forthcoming. We had a complimentary bottle of wine to collect from the restaurant, but were not allowed to have it with our dinner. We were told we could have the wine only in our room, which was kind of surprising.

On the plus side, the complete a la carte menu can be delivered to your room for a small charge of around 3 Euros.

We had the entrecote, which was quite good and very well grilled, and the duck, which had far too much fat on it and was overcooked. Fries were not crispy at all (heated up in the microwave or something?).

All in all, next time I would pay a little bit more for a different hotel.

Dear Sir,

thsk for your review and I´d like to answer some point you brought up. The hotel is located 400 mts away from the Nord Train station and 1000 mts from city Center, which it might give a better idea about the real location of the hotel related to the size of the city.
The issues you found in the bathroom I can assure you they have been corrected, apologize about that. It is true that in few rooms we do not have the minibar therefore we placed vending machines in evey floor for that purpose. about the bottle of wine, well it could be strange in your opinion but difficult to find a restaurant where they can allow you to bring you own beverages, even though it was a complimentary one from the hotel itself. We have rules which might not be understood for everybody in the same way.

“Great Room - Great Staff - Just not Central”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 19 January 2012

The hotel isn't in the old district - it is a 5 minute walk from Brussels "Gare du Nord" Railway Station. It is a business district so not busy at night.
You can ride a bike into town or catch the underground - nothing is very far.
The hotel has spacious rooms that are clean. The staff are friendly. So if you want to escape to a quieter, less touristy location - with a large room - this is a great spot to spend a few days.

The highlight of our stay was a visit (50 minutes by train leaving from Gare du Nord) to the Tintin Museum and wandering around the old town!

“incompetent front office manager”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 15 January 2012

In my opinion Husa is an average 3 star hotel. Location is rather incovenient, metro station not close and parking quite expensive for that area (20€/night). Rooms were quite clean.

My overall opinion however is quite negative of this hotel due an incident - the bad design of the main entrance step resulted in fall and serious injury. At the very moment staff seemed to be lost and could even not find quickly a on duty hospital.

The next day I decided to have a discussion with the front desk manager, mr Michael Herzl. I explained that the step is badly designed as its not visible when exiting the hotel - he limited his generocity to offering a free coffee, a room price that was more expensive than in the internet and an advise to be careful next time!

thsk for your review. to answer some of your comments allow me to clarify some of them.
i do not know exactly what would you consider being close to a metro station, because our hotel is just 400 mts away from Gare du nord. taking into consideration the size of the city of Brussels is quite close. Therefore being in downtown Brussels we believe that 20€ for 24 hr parking is fair enough. Public parking are much more expensive.
We were very sorry about the incident at the main door, but we have also to say that there is no step because we avoid it when the works were done on the hotel sidewalk in 2010. We offer immediate assistance which is what we understand we have to do.

“It can be better!!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 4 January 2012

I ask at the reception. The hotel is 30 years old but was renovated 2 years ago. I asked and owners didn't buy new beds(tough beds), or new towels. What about toiletries in the room or even kleenex?
TV didn't work or I didn't figure out how it works. To its benefit, rooms are spacious.
Breakfast was standard.
In conclusion, not a 4 stars. 3 1/2 and I am giving them the extra 1/2 for the cleanliness and the effective reception proffesionals the hotel has.
