“memorable stay”

Stayed here during our Europe trip in November 2011.
Our expectation was minimal due to the name and photo of the property.
However, we are really amazed and happy with our selection.
Everything was provided for us, from the kitchen with snacks & drinks, free wireless, free breakfast with large array of quality food even, they gave free minutes of IDD which we didn't utilize.

We're staying in the top floor/attic. The bathroom is almost twice the size of the bedroom and it was sparkling clean

“Excellent value, spotless very helpful staff”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 November 2011

Spent 4 nights here with my wife late in October. Taxi driver had no difficulty finding the address through use of his GPS. Stayed in a ground floor room facing the street. There was no noticeable street noise or noise from neighbouring rooms and we are both light sleepers. The room was large with a king size bed, a big built in wardrobe and a desk upon which the tv and internet keyboard sat. The rest of the room was stark bare but could easily accommodate a small table and a couple of chairs so that you could relax in the room. Bathroom was huge with all the mod cons.

Breakfast provided a wide selection of cold fare (unless the boiled eggs had just been cooked) and the plates of food were regularly topped up by the very enthusiastic staff. This was a wonderful start to the day and was obviously very popular because the large dining room was usually full and some guests had to wait for a table. Much has been written previously about access to the kitchen and fridge during the day and it is all true. There are plenty of drinks and foodstuff to help yourself to.

The office is staffed from early in the morning until 10pm at night and the staff were very helpful in providing advice regarding travel into the city, local supermarket shopping and of course restaurant recomendations. Must mention 3 restaurants that visitors should try. The first is Le Saint- Georges which is about a 10 minute walk from the B&B and offers an extensive menu and wine list that caters for all pockets. The second is Saint-Hubert's which is also about a 10 minute walk. A little more casual but the wild rabbit was the best meal we had during our 5 weeks in Europe and the price was very reasonable. The third was an Italian restaurant called Leonardo (Napoli), again a 10 minute walk. Casual, busy and typically noisy but great atmosphere and good food.

The bus transport to the city was amazingly efficient, cheap and very easy to understand. There is only one fare and that is 2 Euro. Even on Sundays they ran regularly.

The main building of Hotel Housing provides modern comfortable accommodation at very reasonable prices. This B&B is great value for the budget conscious traveller and we can thoroughly recommend it to prospective visitors. The recent report by Fab_1492 is very difficult to comprehend given the virtual absence of any other negative comments by visitors over recent months.

“Very unpleasant experience.”

Last weekend I had my parents visiting me in Brussels. I booked a room for them at Housing Brussels, and left my credit card number as a guarantee.
After departure, I received a mail stating that the Hotel had (already) charged me 100 extra euros as a fine for smoking in the room. I went to the hotel and I had to insist to see the room, which - no surprise - had been already cleaned up. I pointed out that I should hev been given an opportunity to see the room before paying the fine. Unfortunately, the director (with whom I could only talk by phone, and whose name is still a mystery) has no understanding of basic rule-of-law arguments.
Of course it turns out that my parent had never smoked a single cigarette in the room and therfone, I have been deliberately stolen 100 euros, by people whose bad faith is nothing less than colossal.

“wonderful surprise”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 September 2011

After spending a couple of days looking for a hotel in Brussels I stumbled upon Hotel Housing. They have studio/loft suites but I tried one of their "renovated apartments". Some of the reviews complained about the fact that the apartments are in a different building but knowing that ahead left no surprises for me.

The apartment was huge, full kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, living room and dining room. There is even a washing machine in the apartment. Hotel Housing is full of amenities including free wifi, large free breakfast, free parking, free bicycles to use and you can even help yourself to the kitchen 24 hours a day.

The staff is extremely friendly and will help you with anything around town from sightseeing to recommended restaurants. Hotel Housing is located on the edges of the European Quarter which meant plenty of places to eat. There is plenty of parking and the bus stops half a block from the hotel.

The hotel is a little hard to find but if you print out a map and have the address it is easy; if you have a GPS it takes you right to the front door.

“Everything is great, except maybe the location and noise...”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 24 April 2011

This hotel is located in a residential type neighborhood that gets a little questionable if you go a few blocks in almost any direction. However the rooms are very nice and spacious and clean with wood floors and clean Ikea furnishings. When you arrive, you stand outside a large apartment building that does not look anything like a hotel. You have to buzz in and hope that there is someone at the reception desk to let you in. Once inside, you are led to a small dining room that opens out to a nice patio/garden in the back of the building. There is also a full kitchen if you wanted to bring your own food, and snacks are available all thru the day. There are no keys issued, instead they provide you with a code that you key into to access the building and your room. I had to key through 5 different doors to get to my room! Parking is in the building, but VERY tight, do NOT bring a large car or you will have problems. (Access in/out of the parking area also required the same passcode.) The room itself if very spacious w a large kingsized bed which was also very comfortable. Unfortunately there were only 2 very flimsy, very small pillows which do not fit the king sized bed at all. No extra pillows stashed in the large spacious closet. Strangely enough, there was also no safe to store our valuables, and no luggage rack either. The bathroom was HUGE, with a double sink, shower and a separate full bathtub/shower. The towels were nice and fluffy and the water pressure was excellent. The hotel provided "free" telephone use (up to 10euro) but with no idea of how much a phone call was, I was hesitant to try calling out. There was a flat screen TV, with several channels in English, French and German, so it was easy to find something to watch. Breakfast was excellent with a selection of sliced deli meats, breads, cheeses, yogurt, cereals, fruit, juice, coffee, teas, pastries and hard boiled eggs. We sat outside on the terrace with several families, including young children. We had a poor night sleep however because we could hear our neighbors thru the doors because of the hard wood floors. Also, our room was on the other side of the kitchen so unfortunately we heard all the banging/crashing of breakfast prep in the early hours of the morning. One thing they hotel offered that I wish we had taken advantage of (but didn't have time to) was their bike rentals. But we arrived later in the afternoon and were tired from a long drive. Also, it is supposedly "easy" to catch a bus (major bus stops just around the block) to the city center or to the EU buildings. We tried a suggested restaurant just down the street for dinner which was very nice outdoor dining, but also very expensive for the amount of food. I liked the hotel, but it just was a little too out of the way. I would recommend only for work travelers, and not really tourists.

Room Tip: Do NOT stay in Room 3 on the first floor!
