“stank of smoke, not great location, poor service”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 14 December 2010

Company booked online through trip advisor for a one night stay and thankfully it was only the one night. Customer service was terrible-opened the door- gave room key and pointed to lift. room absolutely stank of smoke and both myself and my partner felt sick throughout the night. the room looked clean if a bit out of date but the smell just made it seem dank and disgusting. breakfast served until 10.30 but when i went down at 10.15 there was a small pain au chocolate left and 2 yoghurt's- when i asked if there was anymore breakfast i was told very rudely that breakfast is finished at 1030 and it wasnt his job. personally we couldnt wait to leave

“Bad Customer Service - careful with reservations”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 1 December 2010

This hotel effectively ripped us off 63 EUR. We had made a reservation for three nights but decided to cancel in favour of another hotel because we preferred staying in the centre after all. Although the Neufchatel's hotel personnel assured us over the telephone that our cancellation was still possible cost-free (more than 24 hours before arrival), we learned now that they will charge us for the full first night. Had we known this before, we could have easily cancelled our alternative hotel choice for free, which was much more accommodating (Aris Grand Place), but due to the wrong information given and the inflexibility of the Neufchatel, we lost the money. Extremely bad customer service.

“Clean and Comfortable”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 9 June 2010

Visited Brussels to see my son and his wife. This hotel was nearby - booked online after recommendation. The hotel is clean and comfortable, the bedroom surprisingly large for its grade. Continental breakfast is included.

“Comfortable and pleasant hotel, with great breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 31 May 2010

We traveled to Brussels on the Eurostar and chose the Hotel Neufchatel because of its very reasonable price. While it's a bit far from the center of the city, once we got to know the trams, it wasn't that bad.

The room was larger than many hotels we have stayed in. It was quite comfortable, quiet, neat, and well-tended. The breakfast was superb, with many choices of pastries, cheese, meat, juice, coffee, etc.

We would definitely stay there again!

“What you need to know: Disgraceful - go somewhere else.”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 September 2009

This hotel was offered to me as part of a "Euro star" train and hotel package from London. I will be complaining to Euro Star.

The room was dark and smelled musty. The curtains would not close properly and the mirrored headboard on the bed suggested that the room would be better rented by the hour. The cigarette burns and stains on the bedspread (counterpane, if you're American) indicated that it may actually have been. The toilet made a sound like a wounded elephant when flushed and the cleaner had not bothered to provide the room with a clean toothbrush glass. Breakfast was poor - the previous days leftovers were presented as 'fresh' . Finally I was eaten alive by whatever bloodsucking insects live in the matress - my face, arm and hands have painful swollen bites on them. I won't be going back and you should avoid it altogether, even if the price seems tempting.
