“hotel belmont”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 16 December 2010

The staff were extremely friendly and helpful. We had a room at the back so no traffic noise, and it was an adequate size for the two of us. The hotel is in a good location for sightseeing, being a comfortable walking distance from the Grande Place and St Catherine's Place (where the Winter Fair was on), and very close to the Rogier metro station.

“If you want to sleep with bedbugs choose this hotel...”

I was visiting Brussels for an educational trip with a group of 12 people last September. We stayed in Brussels for 5 days and our university had chosen us this hotel Belmont. I have to say when we first arrived to the hotel I didn't think it was so bad. The location was ok... BUT. First the staff wasn't really friendly and co-operative. Later we found out that the street in which the hotel is located is considered rather dangerous (lots of homeless people and drug addicts). Second the rooms and hallways we're awful! The smell was terrible (like an old house that has mould) the hallways weren't wide enough and the carpets were dirty... In the room smelled the same and in the bathroom you could actually see mould on the wall! And now, the worst thing ever.. One of our group found bedbugs in their room one night and they went to the reception to demand a new room immediatelly. Well, the receptionist gave them a new room and told that the bugs will be taken care of and that they won't sell the room for the next 2 days because of that.. And my oh my, next day a new customer comes to the hotel and happens to be in the same elevator with some of our group and he had the key(the keys in Belmont are old fashioned and they have the room number in them) to the room that had those bugs! If the hotel had even taken care of the bug problem properly it would have been not so bad but that they lie and don't take the problem seriously is unforgiveable! I do not recommend this hotel to anybody!

“Good Location for getting around”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 October 2010

Arrived at the hotel by taxi from Gare du Midi. The guy on reception was polite and efficient. He gave us a second floor, double room.[There is a lift] The room itself was just about big enough. A double bed, which was very low,and very uncomfortable. Clean sheets on the bed was a relief. Storage for clothes was ok.T.V. in the room, phone, that's it. Basic say's it all. No coffee maker either. The bathroom was at least, acceptable. The standard of the room was basic, but we managed ok. for the two nights we stayed. We didn't have the breakfast. The location of the hotel is a plus. Ten minute walk, and you are in the shopping and sightseeing area's. This city is very cosmopolitan, and is well worth the visit.

“Shabby bedroom, lovely bathroom, great location.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 October 2010

The bedroom was small and shabby - instead of a double bed two single beds were pushed together! The bathroom was new and spotless though, and the location was pretty good - just a 10 minute walk to the main shopping area. It was a 35 minute walk to the bus and train station, either walking through town or walking along the west of the city centre (not recommended - very dodgy).

The room was quiet and the airconditioning was powerful and the TV had many channels, and it wasn't too difficult to find something in English. Even though Brussels as a whole was quite expensive, this hotel is reasonable.

“good location but not so good if you like a clean room”

Traveled with Husband to visit his Aunt in the city and to see the flower carpet, the hotel was in a great location for both. However, there was only one person working on the desk for reservations and check ins and looking after the dinning room. The room itself was a good size and we could have been comfortable except for the mold on the walls and tiles in the bathroom, the dirty floor, and disgusting shower curtain. The rug in the room looked like it hadn't been done in awhile as well. We were there for three days and although we put a couple of towels on the floor to be changed they were not changed just picked up and put back. Even the walls in the room had something, not sure what and I am sure I don't want to know. Small bar fridge was not working as well. It took about 20 min, to book in as they didn't seam to have our room ready, so we were given this one. It was only a short stay, and the rates were reasonable, which is the only reason we stayed . Would not recommend this hotel even for the lower cost.
