We had two rooms booked in advance on a 85 Euro deal at this conveniently located hotel. The booking specified two double rooms but we were both allocated twin rooms. An alternative of a double smokers room (yes they still have them in Belgium) was unacceptable (smoky and freezing cold) and eventually they came up with one of what we requested and one twin. The twin room was cold all weekend despite the heating being set on maximum (it was, to be fair, a cold weekend in Brussels but there were no extra blankets - even when asked for) and the free minibar deal was not delivered to the double room - very little was in that mini bar. The staff at reception were generally pleasant -especially the Spanish/Latin American ones (although the Flemish-speaking woman seemed really offhand with a telephone caller during our check-in:- "no I don't speak French " " no I don't speak Spanish" - with no attempt apparently being made to pass the caller to one of her colleagues who apparently spoke both languages!). The maid forgot to replace bath towels and even after reminding (very politely) forgot the bath mat. All in all service (as is often the case in chain hotels in Belgium - even Spanish-owned ones it appears) is not their strength.
Having said this - the hot and cold extensive buffet breakfast, served in a really nice room on the top (9th) floor with good views and the 5pm late checkout were really good to have. But just remember to make sure you get what you book for - the staff needed reminding at checkout that we had this specific deal and one of us changed rooms successfully at check in - but it wasn't easy. Wi-fi was free in the lobby in 30 minute chunks and not too overpriced in the rooms. I prefer to stay in the smaller independent hotels in Brussels even at this special rate because the service is more personal and you can guarantee to get what you book for.
