“Distinctly average despite the weekend deal”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 February 2012

We had two rooms booked in advance on a 85 Euro deal at this conveniently located hotel. The booking specified two double rooms but we were both allocated twin rooms. An alternative of a double smokers room (yes they still have them in Belgium) was unacceptable (smoky and freezing cold) and eventually they came up with one of what we requested and one twin. The twin room was cold all weekend despite the heating being set on maximum (it was, to be fair, a cold weekend in Brussels but there were no extra blankets - even when asked for) and the free minibar deal was not delivered to the double room - very little was in that mini bar. The staff at reception were generally pleasant -especially the Spanish/Latin American ones (although the Flemish-speaking woman seemed really offhand with a telephone caller during our check-in:- "no I don't speak French " " no I don't speak Spanish" - with no attempt apparently being made to pass the caller to one of her colleagues who apparently spoke both languages!). The maid forgot to replace bath towels and even after reminding (very politely) forgot the bath mat. All in all service (as is often the case in chain hotels in Belgium - even Spanish-owned ones it appears) is not their strength.

Having said this - the hot and cold extensive buffet breakfast, served in a really nice room on the top (9th) floor with good views and the 5pm late checkout were really good to have. But just remember to make sure you get what you book for - the staff needed reminding at checkout that we had this specific deal and one of us changed rooms successfully at check in - but it wasn't easy. Wi-fi was free in the lobby in 30 minute chunks and not too overpriced in the rooms. I prefer to stay in the smaller independent hotels in Brussels even at this special rate because the service is more personal and you can guarantee to get what you book for.

Room Tip: If you want a room with an exterior view - demand it - otherwise you will have a room with a light w...

“Great Weekend In Brussels”

We went for 3 nights in the middle of January. The hotel was very quiet. The hotel was of a good standard all round,we couldnt fault it on anything. We have never come across hotel staff that were more genuinely friendly and helpful. On reception there was Omar who checked us in and if we werent happy with the room told us to come back down and they change rooms,as we had asked for a quiet room, but the room was fine.We were in a standard room, the large bed was very comfortable and was nicely decorated. There was plenty of English speaking channels on the TV.The breakfast was plentiful, the best freshly squeezed orange juice I have ever come across and you helped yourself to coffee/tea from the drinks machines. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The views from the top floor breakfast room were great and there is outside seating for the summer, which would be a fantastic place to dine. The hotel is centrally situated, the train station is a 10minute walk, and all the shops, restaurants and bars are surrounding the hotel. We had a better than expected time in Brussels. The centre is charming with the square and winding cobbled streets.Would definitly recommend

“Average”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Arrived late - the hotel was full so I was upgraded to a superior room, only to find that it was a smoking room (wasn't asked for preference). Strong smell of cooking in the bathroom, but the room was large and comfortable. Wifi and breakfast were charged extra; breakfast was OK though the views from the top floor restaurant are great. Expected better as it's not a cheap hotel, but that's Brussels for you.

“Nothing special...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 28 January 2012

Nothing special...I expected a lot better.

Basic rooms, OK staff (not that friendly) and an OK continental breakfast (though it was expensive).

There are probably better and worst places to stay in Brussels!

“a great long week-end”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 23 January 2012

Spacious bedroom with shower AND bathtub.
Excellent mattress and no noise from outside: it was hard to beleive that you're in the center of a big city.
We enjoyed their "week-end extender" which means that, besides a good rate for the room we also got buffet breakfast (on the ninth floor, with a panoramic view of the city) and could keep the room until 5 P.M.on Sunday. Also included in the deal was a well stocked mini-bar in the room.
Their gym is for free and very well provided.
Free internet was only available in the lobby but besides that it was perfect.

Room Tip: No view if you choose a room facing the court.
