I stayed here for quite a while actually... but I only really stayed on because it was too inconvenient to change accommodations. The place failed to meet my expectations of a "serviced apartment" though staff was friendly enough, and when necessary could, with a bit of coaxing, get things done. But look at my experience with At Home Wellington (New Zealand) - review posted, and this completely pales in comparison. Like one other reviewer, I agree. It is the small things that count... and unfortunately Florence falls short on delivering these. Therefore, I would only recommend it for big groups, and only for a week, or maximum two weeks. It's then that the value for money really kicks in. Otherwise, if you are alone or just two, you might be better off at some of the other serviced apartments on/just off Ave Louise e.g. Poirots (it comes recommended by three colleagues), and perhaps, Suite Home, which looks good on the website. Though they are much smaller than the ones offered at Florence.

We stayed here in May for three nights- a party of 4 people.
We booked a 3 bedroomed apartment as it was only a couple of pounds more to do so.
Only one bedroom had a double bed, the other two has singles. It was a spacious apartment, with everthing you could need-APART FROM; toilet roll, washing up liquid/dish washer tablets and tea towels/dish cloth.
Im not bothered about soap etc as I always use my own products. The hotel is in a nice location, and you feel very safe walking around. 4 days in Brussells was more than enough for sight seeing I thought- and we had one day in Bruge, which is really easy and cheap to get to from Brussells, the undeground system is easy to use also and cheap.
Loving the waffles and crepes I would go back for them-not my favourite city break though!

  • Liked — Living area- which you dont get in a hotel
  • Disliked — Buying own toilet roll!

We had 2 two bedroomed apartments here for a night (room A22 and A32). The rooms are very large and immaculately decorated. The beds are comfy and you get a kitchenette with cooker/kettle etc and a large sitting room with flat screen TV and dining area. There is a good sized, modern bathroom with 2 sinks, toliet and shower and a separate toilet off the hall. The apartment is big enough for 4.

We booked for the Hotel Bristol Stephanie round the corner, but we were moved to here upon check in. We paid 99 Euros per room NOT booked directly with the hotel.

Breakfast in the Hotel Stephanie (not normally included in the price) was thrown in free for us. The food was very good, with lots of choice, but it was packed with a tour party and you had to queue for food. You can also use the other hotel facilities (gym and sauna).

The location is good, but you are 30 mins brisk walk North to the Grand Place.

I would stay here again as it was good value and a good area.

  • Liked — Smart, new decor and large rooms
  • Disliked — Walls are thin and thus rooms are noisy

It's often nice to stay in an apartment that gives you the flexibility to relax away from the hustle of a city hotel. Residence Florence is in a great location on Avenue Louisa.

The apartments are large enough with cable TV and DVD players. My apartment even had a washing machine in the kitchen which is almost unheard of even in most normal apartments in Brussels.

I would say Residence Florence is "fine" - location & security excellent. However it is the little things that let it down. Apartments not as clean as you would get in a hotel, decor old & in need of a makeover, cheap furniture, especially in the bedrooms. I would also advise you take towels (provided ones are thin, old & not very clean), soap (very little provided) and coat hangers to hang your clothes (what is provided is a joke).

I have stayed in many apartments much worse and do not discount Residence Florence ... but there is room for improvement !

  • Liked — Flexibility of having an apartment
  • Disliked — cleanliness, towels, no soap, cheap furniture
  • Any tips/secrets for future travellers? — Take towels & soap !

I had a four night stay here from 18th March to 22 March 2006. 2 adults and 2 teenagers. We had a two bedroom apartments. You chedck in via the Hotel Stephanie around the corner. The receptionist her was very friendly. There is two secure doors and a lift to your apartment. On entering the apartment we were met with chandalier in the roof and it was stunning. That week a DVD player and new stereo had been installed. There was ample cupboard space, safe, towels etc. There was a iron and ironing board, and hoover. The floors in the living spaces were wooden abd great dining table and chairs. The kitchen was fully equiped and spotless, dishwasher, huge fridge freezer and washing machine.

The location of the apartments I don't think could be matched, we were right on the avenue louise, supermarket and shops less than a five minute walk. A taxi from Gard De Midi station should cost no more than 8 euros, we were charged 15 on the arrival. I would book future travel etc with the hotel, they will also organise one for your arrival. I would also recommend a trip to Bruge, 50 mins in the train from Gard De Midi station
