“Fantastic location deep in the heart of Euro Quarter.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 12 February 2012

This Holiday Inn is a convenient location sitting right in the heart of Euro Quarter in Brussels. A good direct bus that goes from the Brussels Airport to Schuman roundabout, which is about 5 mins walk to the hotel and with Jubelpark another 5 mins further down the road. Isn't a problem going to the Central/Grand Place, the metro station is just around the corner. However, it isn't that convenient, if Train is your mode of transport in/out of Brussels.

Really good value for money if you are just gonna be in Brussels for the weekend. Room and toilet is real clean, firm mattress and there selection (six) of pillows for you to choose. Only a couple of English tv channel though, but for EUR 50 a night I would not expect much. Staffs are generally helpful but the breakfast is abit of the pricey side. EUR 22 for a limited selection of cold and hot food isn't quite worth it.

Would definitely stay again if I fly into Brussels.

“Excellent home during the week”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 8 February 2012

I stay in this hotel weekly for more than a year now, so this hotel is like a second home to me. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast is good with a wide variety of food and drinks. Internet is working fine and relatively fast. Unfortunately, the Wifi-key can only be used on one device, so you have to choose wisely on what device you want to create an internet connection (or buy multiple vouchers...).

The room I stay in is a Business room with a very nice spacious bathroom with both a bath and a walk-in shower.

The selection of TV channels is a litlle limited (e.g. no Dutch channels), but BBC World brings me up to speed on the news, so no problem with this aspect.

The location of the hotel is excellent: quiet at night, but very close to Metro station (Schuman) and therefore all important sites can be visited quite easily. In the vicinity you can find a lot of good restaurants. The hotel staff is very helpful to give you directions to your favourite restaurant.

“reasonable budget hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed 5 February 2012

I stayed here a little while ago. The check-in went efficiently and I was helped by a lovely lady at the reception desk.

Upon check-in they told me that the elevator was out of order. But since my room was on 1 of the lower floors, it didn't really bother me. Due to the nearly closed black-out curtains, the room was quite dark when I arrived. This makes it rather challenging to put your key-card in the electricity-thingy to get some light. The room was big enough, but to get access to the balcony you had to move a chair and the coffee table.
It needs to be said: the bathroom was larger than I expected from a Holiday Inn as this one. However, there were knows right next to the toilet for hot and cold water? The funny thing was... they didn't seem to be connected to anything.

In terms of cleanliness and check-out there was plenty of room for improvement. The top 2cm of the dark brown wardrobe was gray from all the dust. And it wasn't from just a few days... it was rather a dustpile from a few weeks. In the bathtub there were several pieces of hair (I just rinsed them away, no problem there)
Check-out took like forever, since the 1 guy who was present at the time and to drag some suitcases down he could barely lift. Just for that, the check-out of the one couple before me and for my room took 20 minutes.

Apart from these minor issues (that could have been prevented) this hotel is a good option if your on a budget.

“BARGAIN IN BRUSSELS”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 30 January 2012

Booked 3 nights from Friday, 27th - Sunday 29th January, 2012. Flew with BMI from Edinburgh. On arrival at Brussels took the No. 12 bus into the city centre and got off at Schuman. Hotel is only about 400 yards from the bus stop situated in the middle of a quiet street. Small and compact with impressive foyer.
When i booked in, encountered the only problem I had all weekend. I had booked a smoking room. The receptionist informed me that the hotel had become a smoke free hotel from the start of January.
However, they gave me a room with a large balcony which solved the problem basically, but for the next 3 days, I froze my whatsits off every time i went out on to the balcony for a cigarette.
Take notice Holiday Inn - YOU SHOULD HAVE ADVISED ME BY E MAIL before I arrived.
Other than this the hotel is excellent. The room was beautiful with lovely decor. An excellent bed which afforded me a good night's sleep every night. The area is very quiet and I heard no noise whatsoever from outside.
The bathroom was outstanding with both a bath and a walk in shower. Gallons of piping hot water, liqiud soap dispensers beside the bath and in the shower unit and all the usual extras.

Included in the price , which was well under 200 euros, was breakfast. Really good selection of both hot and cold foods and breakfast was available until 1100 hours at the weekend.

The reception staff were excellent and could not do enough to assist. In particular, the male receptionist on duty on Saturday and Sunday morning. He was able to answer all my questions on the best shopping sites in Brussels and wrote down directions for me which proved to be inch perfect. Never got lost and believe me the wife dragged me round every shopping cente in Brussels.

The hotel is perfectly situated to get about central Brussels. Purchase the 3 day Mobib ticket for 9.50euro which gives unlimted access to all buses, trams and the underground.

The male receptionist advised me there was a national strike in Belgium on the Monday and getting back to the airport could not be garuanteed by public transport. He arranged for a taxi, allowed us a later check out and the trip to the airport was no problem.

From my previous reviews on this website, it can be seen that I travel worldwide and i definately rate this hotel extremely highly. Everything was very good and the price a total bargain.

For non smokers, the Schuman is a must. I would use the hotel again if they could guarantee me room 205, but only in the summer months, as boy that balcony is cold. Better the cold than the alternative of a 150 euro surchage if you smoked in the room

Congratulations to all the staff at the Schuman for making our stay an extremely pleasant one.

Room Tip: The rooms to the ear of the hotel are exceptionally quiet

Simple cooked breakfast with croissants, good coffee and a clean comfortable room close to the EU commission Charlemagne building - just what was needed.

Room Tip: Good location and good price 95Euro for the night including breakfast.
